RT @albertbreer: Ed Reed's deal in Houston is for three years. Per source, Reed will make $6 million in Year 1.
A little more than I had hoped. And at $6MM the first year, his guaranteed money is much more than the $7MM as first reported. I would assume this is really a 2-yr deal and YR3 is just vaporware. Guess we need to see the whole details, though.

Devils is always in the details. Could be a $3MM signing bonus, prorated over 3 years, with $2MM gtd in yrs. 2 and 3....

Rick hasn't done too many stupid deals, that I can think of. We'll see how it shakes out.

I saw talk of Urlacher to the Texans as a possibility. If it is for veteran minimum money (or very close to it), I see no reason not to try the same thing with him that we tried with James (who was never half the player). The 2nd ILB on our team just needs to be able to fill a hole in the run game for less than half the plays, and he can still do that.

A couple of details....

John McClain (@McClain_on_NFL) tweeted:
Ed Reed is getting a 3 year deal worth $15 mil with $5 guaranteed.

If you didn't get a chance to catch the preseer live, you should do so at the home site. Pretty good stuff.

I caught some of it, and yea it almost made me wanta put some Texans' gear on and go out and, oh maybe play some touch football, I'm too old to block and tackle. But Reed's personality came thru, and he's very likable, has that rare and wonderful combination of being confidant but still humble. Very inspirational talker. And if those numbers are right (only 5 M guaranteed), hey it's it's all good !
