Hmmmm.......

"Inquired" is a pretty loose term, IMHO.

From PFT:
Well, well, well. Plenty of Texans fans think I’m nuts to even suggest that the Texans would be nuts not to pursue Peyton Manning.

I still may be nuts, but at least the Texans-Peyton theory no longer is evidence of it.

Mike Klis of the Denver Post reports that the Texans recently inquired about Manning. The Texans are now regarded as one of the six teams alive in the Peyton chase, along with the Broncos, Dolphins, Cardinals, Titans, and 49ers.

The Texans and 49ers should have been at the front of the line from the start for Peyton. Either team would instantly become the odds-on favorite to win their conference championship with a healthy Peyton in the fold.

Klis also reports that, along with other teams, the Broncos have been talking generally about a contract for Manning with agent Tom Condon.

The Texans’ interest possibly has been sparked by the Titans’ interest. If nothing else, the Texans need to make it look like they tried to get Peyton, in the event he ends up with the Titans and lead them to the AFC South title.

I'm not much of a better, so I would stay with the 4 years younger, but less talented Schaub.

#1 Manning probably doesn't want to play in the same division with the Colts, where he would have to play them twice a year.

#2 I don't think Manning would like to play for a Bud Adams team, even though "Bottom Line" said Manning is my man. My People know it and will act accordingly. This, of course, is just my opinion.

I think Peyton has some good football left in him, but I do not want him to play for us. We spent all those years trying to beat him and we couldn't do it until we turned the corner this past year. The last thing I want is for us to win the Super Bowl and have it be all about Peyton. I say let him go to the Titans and we'll beat them out on our way to the Superdome.

I really respect Peyton, but I want to beat him not win with him.

I'm actually not that choosy about how we win our superbowls. We could recruit the enemy, while using bounties on the opponent and video taping the opponents walk through. As long as we are superbowl champs I'll be a happy fan. There is no 2nd place in the nfl as far as I'm concerned.

We might be grateful the Titans are now going after Manning (and his friend Steve Hutchinson) because, before that, they were planning to go after Mario Williams. Per ESPN.com:

The Titans also were preparing to make a major run at Houston Texans defensive end Mario Williams, but the organization has shifted its focus to Manning, a league source said.

I'm with barrett. Draft kids from all the colleges I particularly hate, sign Finnegan, you know, I don't really care as long as they win.

I guess I do care about how the players conduct themselves off the field.

Anyway, it has certainly occurred to me that the Texans are displaying interest in Manning to drive the Titans' price up.
