From PFT:
Polian would also like Colts fans to know that he almost came up with a better solution than Curtis Painter as his quarterback this season. “We were getting ready to draft [T.J. Yates] in the very same round,” Polian said via the Indianapolis Star. “Houston picked before us if I’m not mistaken. Should we have taken him a round earlier? Yes, without question.” The Colts didn’t have a pick in the fifth round when Yates was drafted. - I find it somewhat comical that a couple of teams come out to their public and say, well we were going to draft this guy but.....

Just takes all those comments as compliments to TJ Yates. He has had a great start and has an excellent team around him as well.

I caught part of an ESPN phone interview with Yates and he said one of the chief reasons he could respond to pressure situations so well is that Kubiak drills all the QBs in "what if" tests every week. While Schaub was getting a lot of the practice reps, all the QBs were getting the mental drills so he feels he is just as ready as Schaub or Leinart on the mental side of the game and that all he needed was the physical reps and the game experience to be just as ready as the other QBs.
