I think we can take McNair at face value and that means Kubiak/Smith will get one more crack next season. Assuming that is true they better go all in: new defensive coordinator with a good track record (preferably one with head coaching experience in case things go awry and we need an interim audition) , spend money in free agency, and be aggressive in the draft.
