Still, it's just the first preseason game so don't try to read too much into it.
Could Brooks play LG and slide Wade Smith to RT, he played Tackle for the Jets in 06-07, so it wouldn't be completely new? I'd like to see that configuration. Butler scares me.

I was wishing we had spent some of that Mario savings on Jason Allen.

IMO they would slide Brooks to RT before they would slid Smith to RT. IMO we are OK right now in the OL. We have room for improvement but we are OK.

As Bob said, it's only the 1st preseason game.

Neither Butler or Newt looked particularly impressive in pass blocking Saturday night, including against Carolina reserves.

No, they didn't, but the OL works as a unit and they had no experience playing together under fire so I'm going to wait a while before I freak out.

Point taken. We should learn a lot more in the next 2 games (San Fran & NOLA) about the pass-blocking skills of our OTs ?
On the play of the interior OLineman, generally I was impressed and most of all impressed with Shelly Smith, who looks and plays like a classic ZB guard. The
guy really fired out Saturday to get into the second level and on the LBs. Very fast and agile guard.
