I know it's only 3 hours away, so I probably should've started this thread days ago, but I think failing to make a move says you're content with your terrible defense, and that you're not really concerned with making a superbowl run. If there's ever a time to mortgage the future for the now, it's this season. We've definitely got a superbowl-caliber offense, no arguments there. The defense would get torched by Grambling. Slaton and a pick for Haynesworth. 1st and a 3rd for Asomugha. I know Haynesworth is a sack of shit, but you know he's gonna get up for at least 2 games against the tacks. We just have to do SOMETHING. Just show me you're TRYING to get better. With a work-stoppage looming, it's win NOW or we're gonna end up like every other potentially great Houston team. "Yeah, well if it wasn't for the strike/lockout, we could have made a deep run." You've got the horses on offense, now bite the bullet in this uncapped year and do what needs to be done to catch the defense up. Who do you guys like in a trade?

I'd like to see them make 1,2 or 3 significant trades. Hate to speculate who for who, but we need some kinda boost agreed, DL, CB, and now LB.
If not, they are really gambling on some young guys to make big improvements and not sustain even further injury this next 10 weeks. I hope Mr. McNair has given clear instructions to the GM, Rick Smith. I do think they are taking calls, making calls, evaluating what might be doable. And, of course it takes a trade partner to do something, it should be within reason. |

Kubiak on our corners, as per McClain's article today:
Quote:
2 hours left! McClain also said in the article not to expect us to get anything done via trade. I'm hoping he's wrong. |

It's an uncapped year so money is no object. Would like to see something proactive on defense but I'm just not expecting anything.

And there goes the deadline......
To no ones surprise, nothing happened, here or elsewhere. The NFL trading deadline is usually pretty boring.... |

So, nothing happened on trades.
Here is a good article on what they are doing- http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/...t/7254195.html Today released two guys - LT Efraam Salaam and LB David Nixon, So, Salaam is to make room for LT Duane Brown coming back. Along with DeMeco to IR leaves two open roster spots. Today, brought in a bunch(12) of offensive side guys to try out. Tomorrow bringing in a bunch of defensive side guys to try out. I guess we'll never know what Texans trades might have been tried, but according to this site, looks like only one minor trade anywhere today. so quiet for all teams it appears. Bunch of teams trying out and releasing bottom of roster type Free agents it appears. http://nfl.fanhouse.com/transactions |
