Half the time...
This is no pushover game. I don't care what their record is. The team that opened the season cannot beat anyone. The team that played last week can play with anyone. We don't exactly have a good history of playing well after a big win...... Should we win, absolutely, BUT, you just never know. MJD scares me just as much as the CJ/LW combo. Luckily (or unluckily depending on your point of view), they are having receiver issues, and their passing game is an issue for them. I am not so sure that is a good thing for us. Running defense is obviously an issue with us right now, and if they go chewing up the clock, our offense won't have time to get clicking. Hell, even the Vegas goons aren't so sure, as we opened as a 3.5 favorite, AT HOME! With that, they put the U/O at 47, so they are expecting a TON of points...... |

Desperate teams are always dangerous, and trying to avoid 0-3 is about as desperate as they come. The other thing that scares me about this game is that Jacksonville's biggest strength, running the ball, is our biggest weakness.
It should definitely be a win. The run defense isn't really all that far away from being at least competent. If they can just avoid the occasional breakdowns that lead to the 60+ yard runs they will be OK. I'm hoping Kevin Walter is back 100% this week. Davis is fine as a field stretcher, but Walter is a much more complete WR. Not to mention the fact that Davis couldn't block my 10 year old nephew, and Walter is one of the better blocking WR out there IMO.

Looks like Chester Pitts games playing streak is ending. Seems Studdard has been ok so far as his backup.
Wonder if CB Reeves will be back and if that helps our defense perhaps? |

At least they dont have Matt Jones anymore. He was too big to cover on quick slants.

You forgot the biggest reason to be scared about this game. I picked the Texans to win in the suicide game. That means the Jags win in a blowout.

Looks like the Austin delegation will get the game. Not so for the Metroplex... http://www.the506.com/nflmaps/2009/03-CBS-E.html |

We will work very hard on containing Mr. Drew-Jones this week in practice. I think we suck it up and have a good game against him. We still shouldn't take Garrard for granted either, he is big and can run with the pig too. We also have to work on our own run game so that we don't give JAX so many touches.

Battle Red Day against one of our division Rivals. Hopefully we get to add a running game to our offense this week. And a run defense starts to show up as well. If the team keeps the intensity it started showing last week, should be a good game.
Jags have come close in their two losses, so not really playing bad. They will start two rookies as WR this week. I want to try and watch our Dline a little closer this week. |

War UH!!!!!
Now its the other Houston teams turn. 1. Garrard better not look like Joe Montana 2. Jones-Drew better not look like Barry Sanders 3. Shaub better throw for 3 TD's, no INTs 4. Slaton needs at least a big run or big run after catch (hold on to the ball) 5. Defense, Defense, Defense. 6. I think Dunta gets a pick this game. (Don't quote me on that one) 7. Lets get out to a lead for a change. Let's go. |

Playoff calibre teams ususally always win this kinda game - division rival that's struggling, maybe in rebuilding mmode ? I mean if you can't beat them at home, usually you won't beat them in their place, notwithstanding last weeks surprising win in Nashville, and you gotta atleast split the division games if you want a shot at postseason.
So how does it go ? What have we got ourselves here, a playoff "contender or pretender ?" |

MJD for about 4.
2nd down pass is tipped by, I think, Amobi. 3rd and 6 3rd down pass is complete out to the Jags 29. Garrard keeps and sweeps for a big gain - 30 yards. Ball at the Texans 41. Short pass good for about 5. MJD for 2 or 3. 3rd and 2 coming up. 3rd down pass is batted down by Bulman. Jags to go for the FG. 52 yard attempt is good. Jags 3, Texans 0 |

I like the way the defense is flowing to the ball. That may make us vulnerable to misdirection, but at least we are being aggressive.

I think I just saw a hole and Steve Slaton ran through it. Studdard actually got a block on the second level. Now a big catch by Andre. Kubiak has them playing with some effort starting out.

Ball moved back to the 11 due to fair catch rule.
Cushing hits MJD for TFL. 2nd and 12. D-Rob breaks up the 2nd down pass. 3rd and 12. MJD for no gain. Jags to punt. Nice stand, defense. |
