Yeah I think we were about a minute apart on posting this. I agree with you he does have some talent, but he seems to be a bit of a blank slate, maybe that was what Kubiak wanted.

Updated terms have it as a three-year deal worth $8.5 million, though the Detroit Free Press says it is three years, $9.15 million and includes a $2.4 million signing bonus.

I like this signing better than Ramsey. People (like ESPN's Kuharsky) will latch onto the safety dance he did, but I thought Orlovsky had some promise with the Lions.

The Big O (6'5" 230) turns 26 in August.

From the Freep article linked above:
Quote:
“I’m very excited, I’m stoked,” Orlovsky said in a phone interview. “Just to get the opportunity to come down here, walking into a really good situation, just a great organization, a team that I really feel is where it needs to be.

“I like the makeup of the team. I loved coach (Gary) Kubiak and the time I spent with him and (offensive coordinator) Kyle Shanahan; the moments and the time I got just to sit with them and talk football and talk everything. I’m really excited, and I think it’s a great opportunity to come learn from them and work and get pushed and learn from a really good starting quarterback.”
The article also says the Broncos were interested in Orlovsky.

Imagine that!

I am OK with this. Seems a little steep, but what doesn't these days.....
He is young, he has a strong arm, and the fact that he got stuck with the Lions should not be held against him. IF, or should I say when, he is pressed into duty, I think he could run this offense effectively, as I remember him being rather mobile when we played them. Of course, he was running for his life behind DET's line, but still mobile.

I was actually hoping they would pick up Orlovsky. He showed some hope over the course of last year. Despite being surrounded by the worst team in NFL history, his QB rating wasn't that much worse than Rosenfels (Rosenfels 79.5 w/6 TD 10 Int, Orlovsky 72.6 w/8 TD 8 Int). Plus, at 26, he's a lot younger than Rosenfels. Considering that they got a 4th round pick for Rosenfels while getting an equal if not better replacement, I'd say the Texans definitely came out.
