The upcoming Buffalo Bills game

Seemed there were lots of suggestions about what we should be doing so started the thread to look forward.

Looks like Ryan Fitzpatrick will be the QB. He was picked up as a UFA from Cincy spring of 2009, he started twelve games at Cincy last year, who got him from St. Louis in 2007 via trade, Rams who drafted him in seventh round, 250th. And, in his debut in 2005, he threw for 300 yards, got rookie of the week, and beat the Houston Texans. He's had it rough since them, but did play good enough to beat the Carolina panthers on the road last week.

And Buffalo beat the Jets with Fitzpatrick coming in ,on the road the week before that, so they are a fairly good 3-4 team.

Lee Evans has been the go to wide receiver. Fred Jackson is lead RB and Marshawn Lynch is second RB. T.O. is on the team as well with 18 receptions.

Forecast for Buffalo Sunday is for 45º-50º-ish with 30% chance of rain.

Texans are favored by 3 to 3 1/2

Texans have a chance to go 5-3 for the first time in team history....

Hopefully, that forecast will hold up, and the winds will be relatively light. With Schaub's arm, a 20-30 mph "lake" wind will not be kind to our offense......

Big game. Big big game. It's going to be crucial to build the cushion of 5-3. Going 4-4 and playing Indy the next week, we may well just chalk up 5 losses before the bye. We blew too many games before this, and should be 6-1 or 5-2. Either way, let's get this win like we should.

I dunno, isn't Fitzpatrick the QB our defense made look like Elway a few years ago in Reliant ? He either beat us or almost beat us in the last few minutes of the game after we blew a real big lead ? Fairly mobile as I recall ?
I hear weather could be a big factor for the game up there ? Not so much cold or even precip, but wind which could have an adverse effect upon our
one-dimentional, pass-oriented offense.

The Bills drafted Aaron Maybin with their first round pick, a classic tweener destined to be a 3-4 rush LB. But now I dunno because I thought the Bills were a 3-4 team, but their website DC indicates otherwise ?

should be exactly 19 mph on Sunday, 30 % chance of rain, and 47 degrees. It will likely change some by game time, but that is in the 10 day forcast

OK, very good. Well, that could be significant... They might have to dink and dunk more than usual if remains that way...

My Houston Chronicle says its supposed to be "sunny" in Houston today - here it is just after noon and I haven't seen the sun, yet...

I just heard Dreesen on the radio saying they were expecting it to be windyin Buffalo...he was discussing how the wind even affects a long snapper. Never heard a forecast, but you can just go ahead and pencil in a windy day in Buffalo this time of year.

Well, sounds like the team is preparing for a windy day and that is good.

I've heard "supposed" to be windy, "might be" windy and "you can pencil it in".

Maybe we'll get a performance like the one the legendary Tony Banks had in 2003 in relief of David Carr. Banks was 11/16 for 207 yards with 1 TD and 1 INT in a 12-10 Texan victory at Buffalo. Said Coach Dom Capers about Banks after the game:

"Tony Banks has been a starter in the past, and I'm sure he could start for a number of teams. We have total confidence in Tony Banks."

The current forecast calls for a 22-mph wind at noon, out of the west, with temperatures of 50 degrees. With the wind it will feel quite cold to our Texans.

Still, this is the kind of game we have to get if we're going to make a semi-serious run at the playoffs.

if the texans only score 12 points this week you can go ahead and chalk up a 4-4 record going into indy, because the defense is going to give up more points than that, and lee evans has made the texans defense his personal b*tch when he has played against them in the past.

...and if the Texans go into Indy at 4-4 then you can pretty much chalk up a 4-5 record.

they have increased rain from 30 to 50%

and decreased wind from 19 to 15 mph,

doesn't really sound like improving weather very much,

ok, just checked on Thursday morning at weather.com

it now has rain back to 30% and wind down to 10mph, so it is better than before, see how many more times they change the forcast before gametime.

The Buffalo Bills will be without two defensive starters Sunday when they take on the Houston Texans.

Starting safety Donte Whitner and starting defensive tackle Kyle Williams have both been ruled out, the team announced today, joining quarterback Trent Edwards (concussion), fullback Corey McIntyre (knee), tight end Shawn Nelson (migraines) and right tackle Jonathan Scott (ankle) as players who won't be able to go for the Bills.

It's particularly disappointing for the Bills that Whitner hasn't been able to stay healthy this season. He missed weeks 4 and 5 because of thumb surgery and then suffered a bone bruise in his ankle in Week 6 that will now keep him out for the second straight week.

The Bills' other starting safety, Bryan Scott, is doubtful, and so George Wilson and Jairus Byrd are expected to start for at safety for Buffalo.

Bills cornerback Terrence McGee and defensive end Chris Kelsay are listed as probable for Sunday.

Seems Texans should win, although historically Buffalo has had our number. Buffalo has also won two in a row against good teams. So, I'll predict Texans win 24-20.

You're right, it "seems" like we should win and that makes me real nervous.
So even though I don't think of myself as being the superstitions type, I'm gonna pass on making a prediction (just in case, don't wanta jinx anybody) and just say "Go Texans" !
