I found it interesting that the Texans started both Howard and Sharping at *guard* against the Lions. As guard, you are less on an island and can get help from the center on pass rushes. This might help out when the 53-man roster comes out by making the two rookies the "swing" OL that aren't starting but will be injury backups.

Howard now has a broken finger and is expected to miss the last two weeks of the pre-season. I remember when OL played through broken digits. In fact the old plaster casts used to be an additional weapon for head slapping. Times change.

I love toughness as much as anyone, but then I see Earl Campbell take a wheel chair to midfield every time he gets honored and I figure it's ok for guys to skip meaningless preseason games.

Meaningless for a veteran like Kalil. Not meaningless for a rookie that needs experience. JMO. It's just a finger. He's got nine others.
