Looks like Texans FA in 2014 include Garrett Graham and Wade Smith on offense.
Defense FA include Earl Mitchell, Antonio Smith, and Daryl Sharpton. If have a new regime, wonder who they try to keep? |

Tough to project who is retained, assuming at least a regime change among the coaching staff, but Earl Mitchell seems worth re-signing, depending on the market. His position doesn't require a premium dollar to retain, and finding quality interior DLs isn't easy... there are plenty of mediocre ones, but Mitchell seems a better than that.
TE could also be deceptively thin given the team could make Owen Daniels a cap casualty. Since Daniels was injured, Graham hasn't really dazzled, but he is capable as a receiver. The coaches have been rotating Ben Jones at LG, which would seem to imply Wade Smith may not be retained. Whoever is in charge of the offense will likely have their own unique profile on what an OL should look like... keeping in mind the Texans' scheme under Kubiak tends to use smaller, more agile linemen for their running game. The Texans are desperate for depth at LB, so maybe Sharpton is retained. He has his flaws, so I don't want him as a starter. Not sure what value he really brings to specials either, but he is quality depth at least. Antonio Smith seems the most expendable at anything more than the vet minimum, and some team ought to offer him more than that. |
