ESPN crawl says TE Owen Daniels has a broken leg and will miss four weeks. Not great news since he is Schaub's security blanket.

I blame Schaub for this.

Probably the beginning of the end of OD's time here. I suspect Graham will come in and prove to be a sufficient replacement for him, particularly considering how high OD's salary is.

You may be right. His game is all about speed and this might take awhile to get top speed to return. I liked the kid we have as third string. He showed me a lot in preseason. Plus, like Graham used to be, nobody is going to cover him in the first few weeks until people know who he is.

Yea, I'm anxious to see Griffin, he was one of the real steals in our Draft along with OL Quess who I believe is out on IR. |

OD is definitely a goner next year. With the way things are going, I suspect they eventually decide to IR him and fill his spot with someone else at another area of need (OL/CB?).

@AdamSchefter: Texans placing TE Owen Daniels on injured reserve with designation to return, meaning he will miss at least eight weeks.

If I'm not mistaken, teams only get one IR-to-return designation. I'm surprised the Texans are burning theirs on OD. I think I would've saved it in case JJ, Cush, Foster or Brown got dinged.

Yep, yep, and yep. Puzzling, they do use multiple TE sets and Kubiak is thinking long term in terms of this season, I suppose.

Well, if it gets late in the year and we have a chance to make the playoffs, wouldn't you rather have OD in the lineup against the Patriots or Broncos? I wouldn't question the move.
And as for my speed comment, it is relative when discussing tight ends but Daniels is there to get open, not so much to block. When he first came up, they had him running some 20-yd patterns. They seem to have him run more for the sidelines now but I still contend speed is why he's the starter and a slower OD is not an effective OD. |

It's week 6 already. If you don't use it now it becomes kind of pointless.
