Thank you to whoever made the decision to stay your ground and draft JJ Watt instead of moving up and drafting Aldon Smith or Von Miller like many Texans fans had hoped at the time. Those two are a mess...
Smith not only in rehab, but now charged with 3 felony counts: http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/s...session-100913 We all know Von Miller's issues with the drugs or PEDs or whatever he was trying to hide. They say he was lucky he wasn't suspended for the entire year. He's also had some questionable off-field activities. |

There's a lot of luck here in that the 49ers grabbed Aldon S. before we did in that Draft as it was no secret he was Wade's choice. And nobody expected him to go that high as I remember the surprise when San Fran took him as the 8th or 9th overall, whatever.
As far as Miller goes, there was never much chance of him getting out of the top 5 picks, let alone dropping all the way to the 11th overall where the Texans were picking. After Miller's outstanding performance at the annual Senior Bowl All-Star game in Mobile, AL he was destined to be taken very, very high in that Draft. I dunno if there was any red flags on Miller in College Station ? I don't remember anything myself and thought his rep was one of solid character coming out of college ? |

I guess I should also include Nick Fairley to the thank-for-not-drafting list. I know some were really wanting him.

He was suspended from the team during the spring of his sophomore year for skipping classes and study halls and coasting during practice, but that seemed to serve as a wakeup call. He went on to become a team captain and graduate, and was generally considered a hard worker and leader.
