Default Official Texans vs. Falcons Game Thread, 10/6/2019

The 2-2 Texans will host the 1-3 Atlanta Falcons in an early Sunday at NRG stadium. The Falcons lost at home 24-10 last week against the Tennessee Titans. Somehow, QB Matt Ryan had 397 yds of passing (minus 33 yards on 5 sacks) yet only scored 10 pts. With Ryan leading the way, the Falcon's passing game is right behind the KC Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes as tops in the NFL. Ryan has 8 TD's but 6 INT"s in four games. Obviously, the Texans pass defense will be tested and it may indicate how they will do later in the year versus the Chiefs. The Falcons rushing game is 27th with 70.2 yds/game.

The Texans are coming off a disappointing 16-10 home loss to the Carolina Panthers. A lot of new and recurring problems with the passing game contributed to the loss.

This is an excellent opportunity for the Texans to "get right" as the Falcons give up 24.8 pts/game (22nd). I'm gonna say the Texans play the game they should have played against the Panthers and win and cover the 5 points*.

Texans 30, Falcons 20

*If the head coach/GM gets in the way again, all bets are off.

I'm learning this year that the Texans play much better when I expect them to play like crap. When I find nice things to say, they disappoint.

That said, they'll get buried by the Falcs and Julio Jones will bust out of his slump and score three touchdowns.

Yep, they are 2-0 ATS as an underdog, 0-2 ATS as the favorite.

0-2 ATS at home. So far, that makes for a team that is tough to count on.....

Another weak, pathetic, can't-find-your-a$$ loss and people will start looking for their torches and pitchforks.

They played a pretty good game on the road against New Orleans and one real good half against the LA Chargers. They got lucky against the Jags. Had no pulse against the Panthers. Not real consistent, these Texans....

Announcer Kenny Albert must be going for honorary Houstonian citizenship. He did the Texan game last Sunday, did the Astro game today (Friday) and will probably do the Astro game tomorrow (Saturday). Then he does the Texan game on Sunday. He may have been here all week....

--------------------------------------------

Goodness, I didn't realize the Texans play the Chiefs next weekend. All the more reason to beat the Falcons on Sunday. If they can't beat the Falcons, probably no chance they beat the Chiefs. Chances of them going 2-0 over the next two games have to be mighty slim....

Regardless of the Falcons game, the Texans aren't beating the Chiefs.

Fortunately, 2-4 may still lead the division.

That didn't take long. Falcons look limp except against us. Go figger.

They could have called Watson for double dribble there.

Bob I think Fuller made us both right on that play. Terrible hands and a TD.

I tried to notice if the pass was deflected. Nope. Just bad hands. Good concentration though.

Don't ask me if I wouldn't rather have Chark. That dude makes great catches.

Terrible defense aided by a dumb face mask on a 2nd and 20 check down. That’s how you lose to bad teams.
