Default QB Connor Cook, Michigan State

...is planning to return to Michigan State for 2015.

Smart move for him, too bad for the Texans. If he declared eligible for the 2015 NFL draft, he'd be someone the Texans might both be interested in AND be able to select (as opposed to Marcus Mariota who maybe the Texans could have interest but unlikely have a chance to select since he'd likely be take long before the team could even pool the compensation to trade up).

As we begin to see O'Brien work with QBs, Cook is maybe the kind of prospect he might like. Given the 2015 pool of draft-eligible QBs seems pretty shallow, it's kind of a bummer for the Texans to have to wait another year on evaluating Cook.

Quote:
Cook told reporters he had "unfinished business" with the Spartans (10-2), who won the Big Ten last season but finished second in the Big Ten East Division this season. They will end the season against Baylor (11-1) in the Cotton Bowl.

Cook (6-foot-4, 218 pounds) leads the Big Ten in passing with 2,900 yards; he has thrown 22 touchdown passes and six interceptions. He threw for 2,655 yards, with 22 TDs and six picks, in 2013.

Cook has prototype size for a dropback quarterback, though he could stand to add up to 10 pounds. And he has played in a pro-style attack.

Cook led a big comeback in the Cotton Bowl today. Even overcame a poor decision on a busted screen play that led to an INT.

Said several times he plans to return to Michigan State next season, which is a bit of a bummer for the mid-round picking Texans.

The list of senior QBs in the 2015 class is just not good, and Mariota and Winston will likely be gone before the Texans would have a legit shot at either.

I would take either Cotton Bowl quarterback before I'd take either Rose Bowl quarterback.

I'd be more than happy to take Petty in the third (where he's currently projected).
I'd take S. Coates in round 1, Dawson , the LB from TCU in the 2nd, and OT J. Fisher in the 4th and I'd be ecstatic.
