Default Derrick Harvey trade... [Mr. Preposterous Trade Proposer Thread]

Warning: This is a MPTPT thread.

Given the standoff between the Jags and Derrick Harvey and the Texans' pass rush struggles, could a major trade for this guys draft rights be Rick Smith's 'Ron Artest' move of the summer?

The trade rumor was started by some highly legitima----errr----jaguars forum posters, and I highly doubt the Jags FO will want to work with their division rivals.
Still, getting some Osi to go with our Strahan has to be high on the Texans' 'if only list'. I would happily give up a 2009 1st and 3rd for the rights to Derrick Harvey. Anyone disagree?

How nice would it be to have a complete, speed rushing RE be to go with Mario at LE full-time.

A 1st and a 3rd?? Wow, you want him alot worse than I do. I'd be hesitant to give up next year's second for him... dude is a rookie who has not played a down in the NFL.

Besides, everyone of the other picks has signed and set the market and this guy still won't; that should send up some serious red flags. Who is his agent btw?

I would give up a 2nd for him, but not a 1st and 3rd.

Here's an idea: accept the fact that we have too many holes in our defense to expect the playoffs this year. Solution ? One more cycle of college Draft
and free agency will glean us a real weakside edge pass-rusher and a corner
to make the defense whole. And we can even get a second back to go along with scat-backer/Reggie Bush clone Steve Slaton.
In the meantime, lets not throw a bunch of valuable picks at a single player in
a desperate move to get into post-season at the end of the current season2008.

I disagree with giving up two picks for him for a variety of reasons. #1, he has missed most of TC and that is critical for a rookie. #2 - I question how smart him and his agent are. With salaries being slotted, they should be able to get a deal worked out. Not sure when 22 million was soooo much worse than 21M guarenteed. #3 - missing TC increases his risk of injury, when he gets signed and comes to a team, how effective will he be?
#4 - The Hags gave up alot to get him, I am sure they are not ready to get 60 cents on the dollar to unload him.

Wow, a rumor from Jags posters, with the tropical storm heading that way, I am shocked they were online, I thought they would be pulling their homes out of the way of the storm.

Considering how effective Rick Smith has been on mid round picks, I wouldn't give up multiple picks for this guy.

I'm sure the Jags would wet their pants if some (+/-) .500 club offered them their first two picks for an unproven rookie.

Keep in mind that Derrick Harvey was the #9 overall pick, and that the Jags gave up up their 1st, two 3rds, and a 4th to trade up and get him.

Even if you don't think the texans will improve on 8-8, the 2009 middle round 1st and 2009 middle round 3rd still isn't enough ammo for a #9 overall selection.

We gave up 3 picks for Babin and look how that turned out. I'll take our chances picking up a DE in the draft next year. Kubes and Smith look lile they know how to address problems, and we had so many going into this year that pass rusher might not be the one they fill. Hopefully Chaun Thompson can show some ability to come off the edge, or Roosevelt will find his gear.

sure it would be nice to have a legitimate rushing, tackling, sacking RDE.

Why is it the Hags fans want to give him to us? Just because he's holding out? If the Jags are desperate, maybe we could trade them a couple of our DE's and call it done since Harvey isn't signed yet.

I don't like the idea of throwing away a bunch of draft picks for an unproven holdout either, or for any trade actually.

Ditto. And 3 picks for Babin was on the Casserly/Capers watch. We would rather not be reminded of those two dumb heads. No, and heck NO to the Harvery trade thought.
