Default Andre Johnson - Injured Groin 8/2

UGHHH!!!!

Updated from the mothership's message board.

Quote:

Wide receiver Andre Johnson pulled up after a long route at training camp practice Saturday morning. He limped off the field and received attention from the Texans' training staff. Afterward, he said that he didn't hear any pop, but his groin tightened up on him.

We'll have a full report, including quotes from 'Dre and coach Gary Kubiak, on HoustonTexans.com shortly.

Thanks,

Nick Schenck

What is it with the Texans and the injury bug! I know you can't control it, but Jeez, give us a break. Get well quick Andre, we need you to take us up that next step.

I was standing with aj, the blogger from the official site when this happened, he had binoculars and could see AJ's face, he was he great pain, but the trainers never massaged, taped, nor iced him. So we concluded that it was not as bad as it could be. (crossing fingers). He returned to the field very slow and only to hear Kubiak's team huddle.

We both said take him out of contact drills until the end of camp, no sense pushing this, or anything new.

I really think that Johnson is at the point in his career where the risks he undergoes from practice probably outweigh the benefits he gets from it. Personally, I hope we see very little of him in preseason--two or three full quarters at the most. Save him for the regular season.

Dang, you make it sound as if he's soon eligible for SS ?
Actually he just turned 27 last month, he should only now be in the prime of his career.

I really wasn't talking about his age. I just think that there isn't a whole lot left for him to learn about his position. He's a veteran. And he is already a dominating player. He just needs to play enough to be in shape and know the new offense.

Seeing that Schaub can be replaced by Rosenfels if he goes down, Johnson is our key offensive player. I'll be surprised if he sees a whole lot of action in the preseason.

Besides, it will give us more plays to decide on who our 5th receiver is. I think Anderson is definately on the bubble.

Kind of a nice problem we have, just sitting around trying to figure out who will be our FIFTH receiver. Remember last year when we were trying to figure out who would be the #2. My, how times have changed.

It's a Catch 22. If you don't let him play, he doesn't get in condition to play. If you do let him play, there's more chance of an injury.

Listening to AJ's interviews after the practice made me fell better. No pop or tear sounds. It tightened up and he stopped running. AJ said these things happen during TC. I am sure Kubiak will be smart with him. No need to push him, give him a few days of rest.
