Ok, the DraftTek folk haven't updated their mock for the Combine movers, but I just couldn't wait. Using my new board, this is what I did....
1. OLB/DE Clay Matthews. I'd like to be able to trade down, but I really like what I see here and if I can't get good return, I'll just take him at #15.
2. RB Donald Brown. I doubt that I'll be able to get him after the post-combine update is finished. In reality, I'll probably be getting my 3rd round pick here.
3. DE Lawrence Sidbury Jr. This guy is going to shoot up boards like Matthews will. All the talk about 3-4 hybrids and teams that are switching is going to make the supply dry up in a hurry. The focus has been on Maybin, English, and Cushing, but that will be changing here shortly.
4. OC AQ Shipley. Well, he's not Eric Wood or Alex Mack, but he's got some tools to work with. I'm not sure if he can play the OG position, but he should be better than Studdard.
5. FS CJ Spillman. I sort of waffled back and forth between he and Chris Clemons since Clemons ran a better 40 yard dash. However, I went with instincts over measurables on this one and 4.5 is not horrible at FS.
6. QB Stephen McGee. The main reason that I like this kid is because of his ability to throw accurately on the run with good arm strength. We may have a couple of years to teach him the other stuff. Think Kevin Kolb without giving up a 2nd round pick.
7. DE Derek Walker. I realize that I drafted Sidbury, but he's going to wear down if I don't rotate him. Walker is probably better on short yardage and goal line defense, but he can also give a little something in the pass rush too. He is my "poor man's" Robert Ayers.
I'm intriqued by NT Terrance Knighton of Temple. I watched him the Texas vs. the Nation game. At 6'3" 321lbs, he ran a 5.16 (comparable to BJ Raji). Of course there's a reason he's a UDFA and not a top 1st round pick.
