The Texans currently have five tight ends on the active roster: veteran Darren Fells, Jordan Akins, Jerell Adams and Jordan Thomas. Rookie third-round draft pick Kahale Warring made the active roster and wasn't placed on injured reserve. He has been sidelined under the NFL concussion protocol.

Meanwhile, quarterback Joe Webb was placed on injured reserve with a foot injury.

The Texans also cut cornerback Breian Boddy-Calhoun, wide receiver Chad Hansen, waived-injured linebacker B.J. Bello, cutting linebacker Davin Bellamy, running back Karan Higdon, offensive tackle Rick Leonard, wide receiver Jester Weah and they waived-injured Xavier Woodson-Luster (ankle).
