This is my biggest issue. He's completely mismanaging the situation. Savage was far more accurate with his throws than was Watson but the OL is historically terrible so you simply cannot have a guy like Savage back there. People were bitching that he wasn't stepping up into the pocket. There was no pocket. People were bitching that he was holding on to the ball too long. He was, but there was no one open.
You may get some short term gain by playing Watson now but I fear that the minuses will outweigh the positives.
Anyway, Rick Smith has completely fked up the roster. Duane Brown or no Duane Brown beginning the season with this OL is a criminal offense.
All three of their TEs are in the concussion protocol, by the way, so good luck getting a full team together by Thursday.
Silver lining - we can all breathe a sigh of relief that they finally got Jay Prosch extended.
