I hope we can pay him long term. He's earned it and your 4th year in the league is a fair time to expect a new deal. He is making $1 million this year as one of the best WRs in the league.
I also hope we can sign him as cheap as possible for as long as possible for the team's sake. Hopefully giving him a new deal 2 years before we're forced to gives us the leverage to make him a millionaire many times over while still having a team friendly deal.

Why Barrett you sound optimistic about this, as if this is a fortuitous event for the Texans, a chance to resign Hopkins to a new contract at a discount ?
Have they got the cap room to do this if they want to without needing to approach other players to restructure contracts ?
