I think McNair is saying what he ought to say *for public consumption*. It's only mid-season. He doesn't want to throw in the towel yet or fans will stop coming and paying outrageous stadium prices. Changes like coaching staff and key players are for after the season when he's not trying to sell a product.
He may have an entirely different view behind closed doors but he's going to save that opinion for Rick Smith and members of his board like he's supposed to. If there's an ass-chewing to be done, that will be the proper audience, not on Twitter or in the media.
Think of it another way. We played within one point of an undefeated club in their house with no Schaub, no Foster and no Cushing. Keenum gave a credible performance. There are positives to take away from this game which might be foundational for whatever rebuild is to come.
