Oh, I dunno, I was just throwing out some stuff to stimulate conversation. This forum can get really slow sometimes and it's gonna be a long off-season.....

What would I do? Hmmm, I think the offense is almost set - a couple or three interior lineman and a dependable running back (or two) and a little luck with health and they are good to go.

The defense made some huge strides this year but I think there are still some holes. The Bush/Kollar plan seems to be working and I think most of us are pointing to Cushing and Pollard as the biggest reasons for the improvement. Those two came up big - playmakers extraordinaire - which makes me wonder what this defense could be if the Texans somehow couldn't acquire a couple more just like 'em, maybe a CB and a DT...

-------------------

I never thought this was a playoff team to begin when the season began with so I'm a little chagrined to read here and there that there are quite a few that are disappointed or disgruntled with the team's direction (still going up in my book). Did they really think this was a playoff team with a playoff roster? How can someone objectively look at both lines, the overall inexperience/youth (Texans reportedly have the youngest starting roster in the NFL) and assorted others, people like Dunta "lost a step" Robinson and think this is a playoff team?

I think they're close - they're real close - closer than they've ever been. The last two games (Dolphins/Pats), I thought they were there and might have made some noise had they made the playoffs. More than likely, they would have done what young/inexperienced first-time teams do in the playoffs and that is get knocked out right away... Making the tournament is nice but once you get there, it's nice to win a time or two or three...
