I think it could be a blessing in disguise. The Texans were only really outplayed in one game this year (the opener which was the worst thing they could do for their playoff chances as it turns out) but I think the Jets took everyone by surprise for the first three weeks or so. I don't see the Texans being over matched (we'll see how the off season pans out) and it will force them to sink or swim meaning they will have to find a way to win close games or find themselves sitting at home again next January.
