Careers ruined? Hardly. Most of them were older backs at or very near the end of the NFL careers before they ever came to the Texans. They were picked up in most cases because of their experience and in particular their experience picking up the blitz as our O-line was less than effective at holding guys off the QB. The most notable exception to this was Dominic Davis. Because the offense was so anemic and the passing game fraught with uncertainty, with Dom able to generate some yardage he was perhaps over used for a back of his size. It's always hard to say if a guy would have had the same health issues if used less when it is the knee that's the issue. And all the others were very well compensated, particularly when you factor in that they were at the end of their careers.
