Arian Foster for Rookie of the Week

I like this guy. He hits the hole fast and he's got the open field moves... He's got the frame of a true running back - OJ Simpson-like build (no, not saying he's the next OJ). The Texans also have Moats and Slaton (small/jitterbugs but strong) and also C Brown (tall and slow as Xmas). But Foster has the potential to be the diamond...

Also, Jeremiah Johnson (IR) should be ready for some reps next training camp/preseason...

My favorite Foster play on Sunday didn't even come with the ball in his hands. He moved quick to pick up a blitzing LB at some point in the game, something you'd expect from a vet, not a rookie in his second full game.

He's also a decent receiver as well. With Slaton, the Texans probably won't need a three-down back for awhile, but Foster, while maybe not the most dynamic rusher, is going to be hard to pull off the field.

So how comfortable should the Texans be with a backfield of Slaton and Foster in 2010? How high in the draft would you be willing to go for a RB (if at all... recall Foster was a UDFA)? I liked Foster as soon as I saw him live in camp, and I've been beating a drum quietly for Kubiak to get off his high horse on his plug n' play RB system, but Foster's emergence is causing me to re-evaluate.

I will agree with you on that. He did well against the 13th and 18th ranked rushing defenses too, not the bottom of the barrell, but some decent mid level competition. Additionally, he did it with two replacement guards and a center that should be sacking groceries next year. My vote would be to pass on a round 1 RB, get some additional top level hogs or a top flight dback.

I'd feel very comfortable with Slaton and Foster. Use a LATE pick if you must, but eh. Secondary PLEASE.
