NFLN Official Review: the Reeves PI call
 

Mike Pereira analyzes the Jacques Reeves pass interference call from the Colts game. ("not a good call").

I like that Rich Eisen comments that the call changed the game....

Not much help now but his comments are interesting...

I think the Texans lead the league in "official review" appearances...

Maybe that comes under the heading of official exoneration for Reeves ?
We all knew his coverage was clean (maybe "incidental contact" at the most), but the ball was uncatchable anyway. Kinda got the shaft all the way around.
Makes no difference now, but maybe before the season ends we will catch a break on one of those calls going the other way ? Some people think it does even out.

Unofficially, I've got the Texans 2 for 4 on Official Review.

Week 2 they were on the show twice and it was JJ both times - (1) his tumbling TD catch in the endzone and (2) the muffed punt that wasn't a muff.... Both were favorable to the Texans.

The two unfavorable calls were the Reeves PI and the Moats fumble in Colts I....

Don't forget the Joel Dreesen TD that was wiped out by a flag on Kevin Walter for offensive "pass interference" against JAX, though Pereria seemed to defend that call. Good ole' Chris Brown followed that play by fumbling. Even that play might have been a TD if a camera on both goal lines from each angle was mandatory, as he might have been just over the goal line when he fumbled but do to a poor angle we don't know for certain.

Ah, I missed that one. That would make the Texans 2-3 on Official Review......;)

I do think the NFL ought to mandate that a goal line camera be in place once the offense has moved into the red zone. All the networks now have multiple cameras at the game so one ought to be employed for this purpose. It won't solve all the problems but I get tired of seeing goal line plays that can't be overturned because there's no goal line angle to provide "proof".
