Official 2009 NFL Draft Rounds 6-7 Thread

Let's combine the last two rounds into a single thread.

Running back?
Project at QB who will spend a year on the practice squad and get cut next year?

Ohhh, the possibilities seem endless.

Given the theme of the second day and the propensity for high-character guys . . .I smell some Ian Johnson action coming.

Nconroe 04-26-2009 02:23 PM

pick 188 and 223 to go. still a few RB's and Safeties remain.

I dunno, why dont we take atleast one more TE ?

TexanJedi 04-26-2009 02:40 PM

Looking at my sheet:

Chris Baker DT HAMPTON
Rashad Jennings RB LIBERTY
Cedric Peerman RB VIRGINIA
James Davis RB CLEMSON
Coye Francies CB SAN JOSE ST.
Derry Beckwith LB South CAROLINA
Ashlee Palmer LB OLE MISS
Ricky Jean-Francois DT LSU
Domonique Johnson CB TENN STATE
Don Carey CB NORFOLK ST.
Mitch King DT IOWA

Mike 04-26-2009 02:50 PM

I'd love to have Rashad Jennings sitting for us in the 6th. Of course, that does not mean we will select him.

popanot 04-26-2009 02:54 PM

Don't we have to use one of these two remaining picks on our obligatory Practice Squad QB?

If that's JP Wilson or Graham Harrell then I might be ok with that.

Still on the board, but how about Ashlee Palmer at LB for the next pick since they seem to be targeting any position we are not talking about.

Roy P 04-26-2009 03:22 PM

I don't imagine that we'll draft C.J. Spillman since we drafted Quin Glover. Maybe Lydon Murtha, but we did draft a blocking TE. Could we draft a DT? It has to be a RB, right?

jppaul 04-26-2009 03:23 PM

I don't know who is on positive drug test list, but Jennings and Peerman certainly seem like candidates because of the way they are slipping. Both were projected as 4th rounders.

popanot mentioned QB, would not surprise me.

Roy P 04-26-2009 03:25 PM

The 49ers drafted Bear Pascoe, so there's one less TE available. ;)

gunslinger57 04-26-2009 03:27 PM

Well, 3 picks left until we're on the clock, and Jenning AND Peerman are both still available. And hey, 6th round is about when the Broncos used to start looking for RBs.

ETA: Of course, there goes Peerman.

TexanJedi 04-26-2009 03:27 PM

What about Ogbanayya (sp)?

jppaul 04-26-2009 03:35 PM

Jennings is still on the board. The only question is whether we grab him.

gunslinger57 04-26-2009 03:37 PM

Brice McCain, CB, Utah.

Okay.....

popanot 04-26-2009 03:38 PM

John McCain, Republican - Arizona.

TexanJedi 04-26-2009 03:39 PM

Another DB. Was this not the team that said they wanted and needed another guy behind Slaton?

sinnister 04-26-2009 03:41 PM

I didnt see that one coming.
