[KTRK-TV] Jacoby goes the way of Jerome Mathis?
 

(Second hand) I heard Bob Allen reported the Texans are looking to deal Jacoby Jones away... They are tired of the immaturity and the fumbling.

I'd argue that he didn't fumble too much really. Some of those balls were muffs.

He had 4 fumbles this year on PR and only lost one. 2007 saw him at 2 fumbles and 2 losses.

It seems like alot, but with the ammount of returns he had and the production he was able get out of them it still makes him one of the better PR in the league, even with the PR.

I wonder if he hasnt had more off the field issues than the DUI, that we havent heard of.

KTRK-TV (ch 13) will re-air the broadcast of the 10 o'clock news at 1:05am tonight in case anyone wants to watch. I didn't see it, but apparently the team will be looking to move Jones for a draft pick.

Sounds like David Anderson has passed Jones on the depth chart, good for him.

I don't think a muff is counted as a fumble... it's in its own category, i believe.

Wonder what he is worth? An extra 4th for Sage and now surely a 4th or better for Jones. Sounds like we are trying to stockpile picks. Probably to make up for the ones its going to take to get Peppers. :)

Maybe we are just looking to get his replacement, Mike Thomas?

I'm a regular Ch 13 viewer so I also saw Allens comments about JJ last night (BTW Milton should be the top sports-guy at 13).
But the Kubiak-Smith combos first Draft attempt in 2007 is turning out to be a real bummer when you take this news along with the uncertainty and disappointment of the progress of top-pick Okoye.
Didn't he say something about getting a 4th round pick for JJ ? If so I'd say that's optimistic.

Getting a 4th for a butterfinger punt returner who can't crack the top 4 in the wideout rotation seems highly unlikely.

Oh yes, he's not big but can he blaze! Just don't pick the kid with stone hands from Oregon.

He might have only had four official fumbles, but how many terrible decisions did he make? How many times did he a juggle a punt or muff the ball that didn't go down as an official fumble? It's gotten so bad that our section has a little ceremony/prayer before each punt at the home games based pleading for him to catch the ball.

He's been left in the dust behind David Anderson on the depth chart. I would like to see him get one more year to try and get it together, especially after the year Dre Davis had, as our deep threat. If they can get a decent pick for him though it's worth considering.

When your only skill is returning Punts, you better be able to catch them after two years in the NFL. He is behind David Anderson and does not see the field at WR, and he is no good as a KR. He also does not play coverage.

If you are going to have a guy for return reasons only, he better be able to do both kicks and punts, and not turn it over.

I would give him one more year, hes got potential but he needs to clean it up.

"Don't be surprised if the Texans' patience with Jacoby Jones has run its course and they try to deal him before the draft. Jones has a boatload of speed but still after two seasons has not learned to hold onto the ball. Fumbled four times last season, twice his first season, and the team's not thrilled with his maturity, either.

"He doesn't have a chance of becoming one of the team's top four receivers. So, if they get a pick for him, that gives them more draft flexibility."

btw... someone needs to find that POS f***er who kidnapped and killed Sabrina Pina. Probably like anyone else keeping up with this story or the other missing person from Pearland, this has been pretty rough.

I'm on the fence too, lots of potential, some real flashes. if the pick isn't fair, atleast a fourth I hope, I'd give him another year to show he has matured and learned how to catch the ball.

They have a suspect in custody. She grew up in the same neighborhood as me and went to all the same schools as me. I didn't know her or anything, but it's weird to see something like this happen to someone who's grown up a few blocks down from you.

We can't carry a guy that can't get on the field at WR, doesn't play on any of the ST coverage units, and makes way too many poor and sloppy decisions returning punts... not if we're fighting to win the division. I think he'll be released in August if he's not tradeable. There's just no room on the roster.

and only returns punts and not kicks. We are doubling up at return specialist with Jones and Davis. I don't see how we can use two roster spots on return specialists/WRs. So go with the one who does more for you and is MR. reliable in any situation you need him.
