TE Owen Daniels Added to Pro Bowl Roster

Owen will be replacing Antonio Gates per the ESPN.com blog.

Quote:

The Texans said they now rank as the only team in the league with three players from the 2006 draft class -- their first with Gary Kubiak as coach -- heading to the Pro Bowl.

Here Here. He deserves it.

ProFootballWeekly.com agrees. From their list of Pro Bowl snubs, which is based on input from NFL coaches, scouts, and executives:
Quote:

5. TE Owen Daniels / Texans — Daniels’ Pro Bowl candidacy fell into the same trap [Dallas] Clark faced: This was just a loaded year at the TE position in the AFC, and with only two roster spots for the position, Daniels got squeezed out. “I think Owen Daniels is the best tight end in our conference,” one panelist said.

Great... There goes a little extra cash out of the McNair's wallet.

Good for OD. I think he deserved to go, but is relatively unknown as a TE nationally and that probably hurt him being voted in.

I think this is good publicity for the Texans, with three going to the Pro Bowl.

Awesome! He deserves to go. He is definatly sitting at the top of the list when it comes to TE. It think it was his red zone production that gave Gates the edge. As blockers I have no idea which is better though.

:D He deserves it.

Richly deserved.

I hadn't realized Daniels and Johnson had the most yards in NFL history for WR-TE pair. Congrats to OD. And as we know the 06 draft was a good one looking back after 3 years.

I disagree with you description of our '06 Draft as a "good one", but rather it was a "great one".
Mario, DeMeco, Winston, & OD. And least we forget, we had also drafted in Charles Spencer what looked to be our "franchise LT". Who knows how good he might have become, we can only speculate about that since his career was cut short with the severe injury he suffered, but early reports seemed to suggest a better NFL prospect than our current LT who we expended a 1st round pick on vs a mere third-rounder for Spencer.
ALL in all it was quite a job of picking players by Kubiak and then GM Casserly in what was a very rich Draft for the Texans.

Anderson was also drafted in '06 and has been a solid contributor for us - especially for a 7th rounder.

as mentioned above this is great for OD but also means he'll most likely be looking for more $

I don't think him going will change anything. His agent would have already used the fact that he was named an alternate as reason for more money. The fact that he actually gets to go becuase of injuries won't increase his price tag any more than his production on the field the last few seasons already did.
