Dolphins and Jake agree to a deal.

Taking the drama out over who will be drafted #1, the Dolphins and Jake Long agree to terms. Now on the clock, the St. Louis Rams. Jeeze, maybe they will get a deal done with Dorsey and round #1 will get off to a flying start.

How this shuffles the deck, Lord only knows! Do you think it moves some other teams to move up or move some prospects down?

Saturday will be very interesting!!

I don't think it does much at all. Jake was going to be no worse than the second pick. The only thing it might do, is have some effect on Chris Long. Apparently Howie and 1/2 dead Al are not on good terms, and the Raiders will likely not pick Chris. Maybe he falls a bit. I don't see him falling past #7 though.

I now see the Chiefs being VERY interested in trading down to select Clady, Albert, or Williams. I think they were hoping Jake Long migh slip to them.

Have you seen anything substantiating this, other than SI's Don Banks mentioning it as a rumor? I wouldn't put it past Palpatine to hold a grudge (see Marcus Allen, Mike Shanahan, etc.), especially if Howie said something on Fox that questioned "the greatness of the Raiders." But the Raiders brought Chris in for an interview, which supposedly went well, and I'm wondering if the rumor isn't an internet myth or pre-draft misinformation.

Jeeze Warren, you want facts on an internet message board? :D

I thought this was the place for rumor, lies and unsubstianted attacks on one another. This new board wants facts?.... Yeesh. LOL.

I'll see what I can find, that might have come from a piece on PFT. I think you hit the nail on the head if that this might be myth or misinformation on the part of the Raiders. The only person who gave out real information before the draft is no longer here. Can I get an Amen on that?

Good move by Miami. All in all this was the only sensible pick, IMO. I have a feeling Jake Long is going to be a consistent All-Pro and potentially a HOFer, whereas, Chris Long is just going to be a decent to slightly-above-average player. The only other guy I would have considered at #1 is Gholston, but that's a pretty risky pick (ahem, Mario). He could be good (ahem, Mario - knock on wood) or could be bad.

Oh, I think there's plenty of room for rumor, lies and unsubstianted attacks. :)

Banks repeated the rumor yesterday:
Quote:

4. Oakland -- The Raiders remain a mystery of sorts, but we're now fairly sure (ha!) they're not taking Arkansas running back Darren McFadden or Virginia's Long. Too many running backs, and too much bad blood with Howie Long, Chris's father, are the short-hand reasons. That pushes us in the direction of Gholston, because the Raiders' top need is an impact pass rusher. Oakland likely will also try to solicit offers for the pick, believing that someone might try to move up for either McFadden or USC defensive tackle Sedrick Ellis.
I've looked around a bit, and I haven't seen it anywhere else, including PFT and the local Oakland media. I'd think PFT would be all over it if there were something to it (and maybe even if there weren't).
