Best WR in Texans History?

Who is the best receiver in Texans' history? Please explain your reasons.

1) Andre Johnson

2) DeAndre Hopkins

3) Anyone else

I'd rather answer this question once DeAndre's career is over. I mean, it looks like DeAndre is going to have better numbers, and he's amassing a more impressive library of circus catches, but I don't think I've ever seen him just impose his will on a game the way Andre did from time to time.

If Andre had had even just a league average quarterback for all but those two or three good Schaub years, who knows what his numbers might look like.

AJ could have been an all-time great with a decent QB.

But Hopkins was great with no QB. What he did with Fitzpatrick/Mallet/Keenum/Hoyer/Yates/Weeden/Osweiller is one of the great feats in the history of the league.

But my vote is Kevin Walter. Man that guy could run a reverse.

Andre did have Schaub over those peak seasons. And I agree it is difficult to determine the best while still in the heart of Hop's career, but he is benefitting now with Watson taking snaps.

But first, to the extent stats matter:

Johnson - 14 years (12 in Houston), 1062 rec, 14,185 yds, 13.4 ypc, 70 TD, 2 1st Team All Pro

Hopkins - 6 years, 528 rec, 7,437 yds, 14.1 ypc, 47 TD, 2 1st Team All Pro

Peak season?
In 2008, Johnson had 115-1575-8.
In 2018, Hopkins had 115-1572-11.

Both special players. Johnson went beast mode at times. Hopkins has the hands and toe drag swag. Whichever player you chose today probably says more about the type of receiver you'd want on your roster more than it says which is really the better player.

See, now we're talking. I was going to go with David Anderson but I think you convinced me.
