Texans at the bye

Record = 6-3, 1st in AFCS

Scoring pts/game = 24 (tie 14th)

Pts allowed/game = 20.4 (7th)

Yards/game = 369.1 (14th)

Yards allowed/game = 336.3 (9th)

----------------------------------------------------------

Football Outsiders rank:

Offense = 24th

Defense = 3rd

Special teams = 4th

Team = 12th

---------------------------------------------------------

Texans will come out of the bye with a road game (Was) followed by three homes games (Ten, Cle, Ind). Going 2-2 (or even 1-3) over this stretch would not be the end of the world but going 3-1 or better would be ideal and make the Texans hard to catch. The final three games, @NYJ, @Phi and home for Jax could be influenced by other forces - the Jets might end up tanking, the Eagles and Jags may or may not be fighting for a playoff spot.... It's the NFL and anything can happen but at this juncture, finishing 10-6 (or better) looks quite doable.... After starting the season 0-3, finishing 10-6 seemed ridiculous at the time - how things change....

---------------------------------------------------------

Sunday viewing in the Houston area:

CBS (early) = New England @ Tennessee, Ian Eagle, Dan Fouts

CBS (late) = Seattle @ LA Rams, Jim Nantz, Tony Romo

FOX (early) = New Orleans @ Cincinnati, Kevin Burkhardt, Charles Davis

----------------------------------------------------------

Week 10 primetime:

TNF = Carolina @ Pittsburgh (FOX/NFLN)

SNF = Dallas @ Philadelphia (NBC)

MNF = NY Giants @ San Francisco (ESPN)

Texans cut KR Tyler Ervin, claim WR DeAndre Carter :

Quote:

The Texans cut running back Tyler Ervin, their primary kick returner for the past three seasons.

They claimed wide receiver DeAndre Carter off waivers from the Philadelphia Eagles.

Ervin's release comes as a surprise. He was averaging 25.3 yards per kickoff return and 8.3 yards per punt return.
Sounds like Carter is a better returner and a WR by trade. Still young. Stable backup/rotation player for Coutee....

Good stuff there Arky.
Appreciate the stats and the schedule for what looks like another solid lineup even without our hometown boys on their bye week.
Dallas let us down Monday but maybe the Pats can win in Nashville this weekend to help us out in the division race.

When Dallas plays Tennessee, it's a shame only one of them can lose.

Indy hosts the Jags this weekend. Both are 3-5 so the loser will be in dire straits. Indy has been showing a spark lately. They can score - put up 37 against the good Bills defense. I'm leaning Jags in this game but wouldn't be surprised with another Indy win....

Dang, the Titans beat the Pats and made it look easy. Brady looked 83 years old.

Indy beat the Jags by 3 so the Jags are officially in trouble.....

--------------------------------------------------

Early line has the Texans as a 2½ to 3 pt. favorite over the Redskins.

Man, I dunno. The Titans play @ Colts this Sunday so that should give a little more info. After that game (2 weeks from now), the Titans play @ Texans on MNF which is shaping up to be a much better game than anyone thought...
