Official 2018 NFL Draft - Round 2 & 3 Thread

Texans will begin the night with three picks in the third round.

#68
#80
#98

#68 is theirs. #80 was Seattle's. #98 is compensatory.

Big Texas 04-27-2018 08:13 PM

Ok. Lets not blow this...

Keith 04-27-2018 08:25 PM

#68 will be safety Justin Reid from Stanford.

Blitzwood 04-27-2018 08:31 PM

Luv this pick!!

I want Mark Andrews TE , or Jones the OT out of OSU next.

Arky 04-27-2018 08:33 PM

Ok, Eric Reid's brother. Sounds good.....

Kinda glad the Texans didn't trade up and seem to be content to take their medicine this year. They still may do some wheeling and dealing but it won't be so punitive at this stage of the game. The 2019 draft will be the better for it...

Waiting until #68 to pick is having some positive effects on how the Texans and Gaine seem to be approaching the offseason. They went after some need areas in free agency, made a splash move getting the Badger, and now have clearly taken the Best Available Player on the board in Reid.

Gonna be weird seeing competent safety play on the defense.

Totally agree, haven't had an really good safety since Glover Quin, now we have 2 potentially.

Gotta be an OL pick, right?

Arky 04-27-2018 08:59 PM

Martinas Rankin, T, Miss St.

Don't think you can go too far wrong with an SEC lineman....

#98 is a tight end. That's some real out-of-the-box thinking around Kirby.

TE Jordan Akins, UCF

Arky 04-27-2018 09:55 PM

A new TE. Supposed to be a pass catcher, i.e. not a blocking specialist....

Arky 04-27-2018 10:06 PM

Akins is 26 and played 4 years in the Texas Rangers (baseball) minor league system....hmmm..

A wide receiver who put on weight so he become a TE at UCF...

Nconroe 04-27-2018 11:14 PM

Seems like 3 reasonable picks, look forward to see how they do,

S Justin Reid 6'1", 206 , 4.4 in 40, so good size and speed,

OL Martinas Rankin, 6'4", 306, started 9 games this year at OLT.

TE Jordan Akins 6'3", 249, good size, wingspan

And more picks in each of next four rounds. Another OL perhaps, best available?
