NFL Expands cap from $120m to $123.9m

Here's a small amount of relief for those worried about our UFAs fleeing for greener pastures. The NFL has announced that the 2013 salary cap has increased by $3 million and change (wish I had that sort of change).

I think we took some sort of one-time exemption to restructure Schaub last year but I'm not really sure about that. Our local cap experts may know more.

That extra hopefully helps keep most of our good free agents this year. Hopefully we will see some signings of our UFA soonm

Can we hire the Eagles cap guy? In the last 2-3 years, they've somehow given Vick a $100 million dollar deal, Nnamdi a monster deal, taken on Demeco's contract, signed Babin, Cullen Jenkins, Desean Jackson, Trent Cole and Lesean McCoy, yet are $33 million under the cap? I know several of these guys have recently been cut, but that usually makes matters worse for the cap, with any prorated signing bonuses coming due.

I was looking at Indy's cap number and feeling unhappy with the implications.

Indy certainly has a lot of room to do some things. If I were placing a wager, that is where I would bet Barwin ends up, although I'm not sure if I would consider that a good or bad thing.

Neat fan site tracking salary cap data by team. Since it is run by a fan, it would be roughly as accurate as what I would have kept here in the past, but since base salary data is sometime available through legit sources, it's probably a decent estimate without examing each of the details individually.

- The contract to extend might be Antonio's if he doesn't ask too much. Team could shave $6MM off the 2013 cap if they cut him outright.
- Cutting Kevin Walter saves $2.5MM.
- Probably a good time to extend Wade Smith, too.
