Colts game Post-Mortem

That's about as pathetic as it gets to close out a season.

Arky 12-30-2012 03:09 PM

I'm pointing at the 2 Schaub INT's, the Colts kickoff return TD and the refs blowing the Luck fumble as the game changers. The Colts didn't commit a turnover.. the Texans committed 2....

Foster was 16 carries for 96 yds. - no problem there.

AJ caught 12 for 141 - no problem there.

Defense allowed 3 TD's, Special teams 1 TD.... Defense couldn't get the stop when they needed it.....

Wonder what Lance "My Daddys a coach, My Daddys a coach" Zierland will have to say about this game this coming week ? I know two other 790 guys, "In The Trenches" ND Kulu & Greg Koch, both guaranteed a Texans' victory. Of course everybody seemed confidant that Indy would be using reserves in the second
half, I know I was ?

Since I've been watching the Texans all year I knew perfectly well the Texans would get their asses kicked.

I've had no deep trust in this team since Brian Cushing was injured intentionally. Knew his loss would be the death knell.

That surprises me that 2 former players would have discounted Pagano's comeback. Football teams are families, and insulated ones at that, which routinely adopt an "us against the world" attitude. I'm not surprised in the least that the Colts did everything they could to get Pagano a win and said as much last week. After watching guys shave their head and almost cry in press conferences when talking about him, why would anyone have thought they would just lay down?

Ya, man, I so disliked the Manning Colts and it looks like it will continue with the Luck Colts..... Up two scores, passing on 3rd down with time running out to get the 1st down... smh.....

Big Texas 12-30-2012 03:22 PM

My rant...

Shaub underthrows for an interception & overthrows for an interception

So I guess this means that his deep accuracy is SHIT...

If I were cincy, I would stack nine in the box and force Shaub to beat them deep...

I know they gave up a lot of points but I am not too upset with the defense. Its expected that offenses will step up their game as the playoffs approach.

What I am upset at is the special teams for their complete worthlessness all game and all year. (side note: Martin wanted the TD...Keo was happy with the long return...coaches mentality "Ok with being Ok").

I am obviously upset with Shaub for what we have already known for a few years now...

The dropped TD by Johnson was not a big deal. Things like that happen ONCE...

Oh and not to mention the overthrow to Lestar Jean up the sideline...Luck completed his, why shouldn't Shaub complete his...

yes I know I am all over the place...but it's becoming redundant and the coaching staff seems like they are ok with having a good record...

Oh and how about the fact that the Bengals will be gunning for us after last year...I'm done for now...

Thinking the Colts would lay down for anyone - let alone a division rival - is about as assinine as thinking the Texans were holding stuff back in fear of tipping off a future opponent. But then again, we do have the Kubiak factor at play here...

Assinine is a little strong, it's the time of year when teams rest starters.... Apparently the Colts didn't get the memo.... They didn't improve their seeding..... They get a W for the their coach... Yay.

I don't expect them to go very far in the playoffs but maybe they surprise being so young and all.... maybe they might wish they hadn't spent so much effort in defeating the Texans.... just a thought...

Piss poor effort ever since the NE beat down.

Yes and Yes. I don't think it has to be one or the other. I think we are coasting in every sense. Lazy and sloppy play perfectly paired with lazy and sloppy coaching.

We failed on ST, Offense, Defense, Coaching (brutal challenge early in the game, wasted timeout so we could try a 53 yard FG that had no chance at going in). This is a team wide collapse.

The defense could not get off the field in the 4th quarter for the 2nd week in a row. The offense is bad between the 20s and worse in the redzone. We have now called about 5 bootlegs in the past month after hitting it 6-8 times a game through 12 weeks. All of the straight drop backs mean our OL is being badly exposed for the things they can't do.

And to top it all, the refs slobbered all over this Colts team for 4 quarters. I almost understand calls going against us vs. the Steelers or Patriots (Bob's complaint), but a team of rookies gets loved up on all day. The NFL has gotten terrible league wide this year about how many PI flags come based on the WR mini fit after an incompletion. Of course we don't have a guy on the roster who will ask for a call, so we get none when AJ is mugged, but give up phantom calls all over (in the endzone before the 1st TD, the start of the long 4th quarter drive to put the game away). Its almost like these teams have a coach working the officials from the sideline all game...

Kubiak just has far too much Washington General in him. He is the opponent, the other guy. Now I just have to decide if I want to lose to Cincy so I have some hope of real change, or if I want to tease myself along until we get stomped in Foxboro.

Then you probably saw that big spread going into the game, took the Colts and the points, & made a killing right Chuck ?

Do you watch week 16 and 17 in the NFL every year? Assinine was the Colts not laying down today. Now they get to go to Denver and get smashed.

As for play calling, I agree it would be idiotic to hold back, I just don't see another possible explanation for why we stopped running everything that worked in our offense a month ago. Ocham's razor tells me the simplest explanation is the likliest, and the simplest explanation is Kubiak is an idiot.

chuck 12-30-2012 03:39 PM

Why the hell should we want the Texans to come in and play half a Colts team? They had two opportunities to simply win a football game and wrap up home field. Huge. Instead they choke, twice. Kubiak and Schaub are made for each other. They are both pathetic, nutless pussies.

Why would you try to rob Chuck of his cynicism? Smugly asserting he knew it was coming (after the fact) is what allows him to deal with it. I wish I had a coping mechanism half as reliable.

Every situation is different and this one was particularly unique. Even being locked into a 5 seed, the Colts were a team with a head coach coming back from cancer treatment and a starting QB making his 16th career start. Both from an emotion and reps stanpoint, it made sense to play this one. Also, with the texans playing for a No. 1 seed, the colts basically just got a great playoff primer for their young and inexperienced team. Why would they not take advantage of that?

I don't care about the spread, I care about the Texans winning. And I was sure they would not.

Except I am perfectly able to prove my assertion. Sadly my ability to foresee the outcome does not in any way assist me in coping.

Ok, assinine is a little strong, but the Colts were 1) playing a division rival who has never beaten them at home and who they'd like nothing more than to screw going into the playoffs, 2) have thier ill HC back for the first time in months, 3) are young, and unlike the Texans, want to go into the playoffs with some semblence of momentum, and 4) were burnt a few year ago by resting their starters which I'm sure the fans and news stations have reminded them of repeatedly this week. Normally, I'd wholeheartedly agree with your point, and maybe with any other team, but this Colts team had a lot to play for this week than just a potential playoff location.

I thought they started opening up there in the 3rd and 4th quarter but it was like they were so "rusty", they didn't connect. Was nice to see some long passes (even if they were inc or INT"ed)...
