Texans Sign Johnathan Joeseph!

Not going to be too popular, but I like it.

Terms to come.

@AdamSchefter: Texans reach agreement with former Bengals CB Johnathan Joseph on a five-year deal. Nnamdi to Jets looking more likely.

Fonz the Boss 07-28-2011 07:17 PM

Not in the same class as Nnamdi or Revis but that's what happens when the team is a joke year in and year out.... So close man. I already had my $200 put aside to order my authentic Asomugha jersey.... i hate him now

cland 07-28-2011 07:19 PM

I like it. I wish Weddle and Mikell hadn't signed yet, but the top safety should be our next target.

Fonz the Boss 07-28-2011 07:23 PM

I dont think there will be wiggle room to sign a decent safety anymore. If anything, they will probably have to release some players.

Nconroe 07-28-2011 07:29 PM

I'm good with Johnathan Joseph, hope they can get a good safety.

Will be nice to see terms and impact elsewhee

Arky 07-28-2011 07:31 PM

I'm good with it. 3 years younger than Nnamdi and a good solid CB...

jcp 07-28-2011 07:32 PM

Don't buy cap as an issue

I expect to hear about contract extensions for mario and schaub by sunday to free up a bundle. My guess is this is just the first chip to fall. They want to win now...which is about time!

NBT 07-28-2011 07:34 PM

I like it because Joseph is younger with room still to grow. This move will allow Wade Phillps to be more creative, and aggressive, with his passrush.

cland 07-28-2011 07:36 PM

Looks good for Danieal Manning: http://www.rotoworld.com/content/pla...=207545&spln=1

popanot 07-28-2011 07:37 PM

I'm good with it. Younger, cheaper. I think Aso was playing them for more $$ from the Jets or 49ers. Go get D. Manning and try to get whatever you can for Okoye and their not looking too bad.

barrett 07-28-2011 07:41 PM

Good signing. You can't let a guy hold you hostage so long that you end up left out. Should be interesting what the Jets finally pay Nambi. They already lost Brad Smith by telling him to wait until they figure out Nambi. That means they are reaching a point where they have to sign him or it is a huge failure. But he is running out of suitors. Should be interesting who blinks and for how much.

And Joseph is a great signing of a young, talented player at a position of need without hugely overpaying (we assume). That adds up to a giant win in FA.

Now for a Safety and Leach returning.

Saw this on Twitter:::

“@AdamSchefter: Interesting stats... RT @KCJoynerTFS: Joseph has a better 2-yr YPA than Asomugha on nearly 3 times as many targets.”

kRocket 07-28-2011 08:03 PM

I like it. That frees to pursue other signings. Tomorrow ought to be fun.

Arky 07-28-2011 08:10 PM

per McClain:

Quote:

Joseph gets 5 years, $48.75 million and $23.5 guaranteed, including $12.5 signing bonus.
*whistles*

If they end up getting Manning or re-signing Leach or both then I will tip my hat to Rick Smith.

cland 07-28-2011 08:17 PM

Looks about right, 9.75 mil per year. I'm still surprised to not see much action from the way under the cap teams (ie. Bucs)

WMH 07-28-2011 09:09 PM

Everybody looks good in a highlight video.....

but, seeing this makes me smile :D
