Barwin done for the year - dislocated ankle

From PFT:

Quote:

We told you early Sunday that Texans defensive end Connor Barwin suffered a gruesome injury against the Colts.

Unfortunately, the injury proved as painful as it looked. Barwin is expected to miss the season with a dislocated ankle, according to John McClain of the Houston Chronicle.

"That's a tough loss," coach Gary Kubiak said. "He's a fine young player doing some great things for us. They're trying to get the pain under control right now. Obviously, we'll have to fix (surgery) it, but I don't know when."
We know Aaron Schobel says he doesn't want to play, but perhaps this will help Houston offer him a little more money to return to football. Barwin's replacement on Sunday was second-year undrafted Jesse Nading.
Paging Mr. Schobel....

Sounds like we need to hope Barwin has a good recovery and is ready to go next year. Tough break as he was starting to contribute more and more.

I thought Nading and Jamison did fairly well when they got a chance to play.

Wondering how they will fill this spot.

I'm glad it was the ankle and not the knee. As a speed rusher, a knee injury could have changed him from an outstanding rusher to an ordinary rusher. An ankle injury might still slow him down until fully healed but it won't D-Rob him.

I thought Nading did a great job as well when his number got called. He was involved in a half sack with Mario and I could see him hustling when he was in there.

Dr. Charlie Moore is on the morning show with Mark Vandamere and John Lopez and he was talking about the Barwin injury. He said there is no way this is a dislocated ankle. They do not do surgery on dislocated ankles, they pop the ankle back in and cast them, and wait.

In his opinion there is a break and dislocation, it means a longer rehab, but still recoverable. He said Barwin should be ready for training camp or sooner.

I dunno, but wouldn't a knee (ACL, MCL, whatever) have been cleaner & simpler and result with little or no uncertainty about a full revovery ? This is more complicated and there sounds like real uncertainty about 100 % recovery ?
I hope this isn't as bad as D-Robs injury ? BTW I'm looking forward to seeing a Falcons game being telecasted to see how he is doing 2 full years after his injury ?
When I was a kid in HS I suffered an elbow dislocation in practice. I can tell you they hurt like hell, especially when all that ligiment, cartlidge in there also gets torn-up.
