Official 2009 NFL Draft Round 3 Thread
Time to look at ahead to the third round.
Is it time for a RB? Someone in the secondary? |

Man, I hope it's Shonn Greene (big, blocker, catch it out of the backfield).
My guys that are left for a 3rd round pick...
S Chip Vaughn Wake Forest WR Mike Thomas Arizona RB Shonn Greene Iowa RB Andre Brown NC State LB Marcus Freeman Ohio State DE Lawrence Sidbury Richmond CB Asher Allen Georgia |
On a side note, I tied for #38 overall on NFL.com's Predict the Pick. Ironically, I did not get the Texans pick correct, I had Philly trading up for Moreno and us taking Matthews later. I tell you, Mel Kiper, Todd McShay, Mike Mayock, Rick Gosselin ain't got nothing on Lance Zeirlein. I find him to be the best source for how the draft will fall over the past couple of years.
Round 3: Jarron Gilbert DT/E Jarrod Cook TE Shonn Greene RB Shawn Nelson TE Alex Magee DT Jauquin Iglesius WR Michael Johnson DE Clint Ingram TE Andre Brown RB Lawrence Sidbury DE Bradlee Fletcher CB Mike Wallace WR Kraig Urbik G James Casey TE Antoine Caldwell C Rashad Johnson FS Chip Vaughn S We have some good options. |

Do you think Urbik is athletic enough to play in our ZBS? I know the man is about 330 lbs. |

To be honest, there's no one that has me terribly jazzed up but part of that's probably that I was a bit too busy this year to pay that much attention to prospects. Guys that I might be interested in on Day 2 would include:
RB Andre Brown C Antoine Caldwell S Chip Vaughn FS Rashad Johnson RB Rashad Jennings DT Alex Magee CB Coy Francies TE Shawn Nelson TE Chase Coffman TE Jared Cook WLB Kaluka Maiava RB Shonn Greene QB Rhett Bomar C Jonathan Luigs WR Derrick Williams DT Terrance Knighton *edit* Almost forgot RB Ian Johnson |
Secondary help, PLEASE!

Will the Lions select an OT like Jamon Merideth or a LB like Marcus Freeman?
What the heck, let's see if the Texans can continue the Drayton Mclain "all-whitey" draft.
Shonn Greene or Chip Vaughn would be great picks if one of them made it to 77.
Gonna be a fun day... this is where winning seasons can be made. |
Quote:
LB Scott McKillop Pittsburgh QB Stephen McGee Texas A&M OC A.Q. Shipley Penn St TE John Phillips Virginia QB John Parker Wilson Alabama OT Lydon Murtha Nebraska So, I'd expect that we'll be getting a player with a better tan here in the 3rd. |

Jets trade up to #65.
wow, starting the third with a trade with Jets, gave up 3,4,7, to get 65.
Michael Johnson and Gholston?
Dang you Jets!
Ouch. There goes a thumper RB.
Fletcher goes to St. Louis before Michael Johnson gets picked. Something is strange about that.
KC may go with Shawn Nelson or Jared Cook? Or are they going after an OLB like Sidbury or MJ?
Rashad Jennings? Andre Brown? Can the Texans wait another round to get a RB?
Cedric Peerman?? I think if there's a DB they like a lot, they'll wait, otherwise I'm totally expecting a RB. |

Gosselin had Fletcher at 66 overall, so clearly he was hearing from teams he was rated higher than believed. Someone start a run on TE's please!
Why the heck does ESPN have a reporter in Dallas for a team that will finally take it's first pick in the 3rd round? Stupid.
The pool jumper goes to the Bears. |

Chip Vaughn or Rashad Johnson would look pretty good in Battle Red...
Cowboys, please don't pick Chip. Go Duke Robinson

I think Cinci gets the draft day fallers....Smith, Maulaluga, and Michael Johnson.
There goes Johnson to the Bengals, that's ok because we have Barwin.
Oakland has a WR, but Mike Thomas ran a 4.35. However, Sidbury was fast at the Combine.

I'm feeling good about getting Vaughn and perhaps Brown in the 4th or possibly Jennings. Now if the Cowboys don't mess that up at #75.
In my mock draft, I had the Jags selecting Dorrell Scott here.
The Hags should go with Juaqin Iglesias here to go with Holt.
William & Mary - I had no idea about this CB. Off my radar :D
