TV = CBS (channel 11 local), noon Sunday, Nov 23
Announcers = Ian Eagle, Dan Fouts The line = Texans by 1 to 1.5 Joe Public going with the Bengals here after their impressive win @ New Orleans. ----------------------------------------- Other Sunday viewing in the Houston area: Late afternoon: CBS = Miami @ Denver -- Jim Nantz, Phil Simms FOX = Arizona @ Seattle -- Kevin Burkhardt, John Lynch ------------------------------------------- TNF = Kansas City @ Oakland (NFLN) SNF = Dallas @ NY Giants (NBC) MNF = Baltimore @ New Orleans (ESPN) |
A huge swath of America is getting this game, too. Although if the Jets and Bills are playing in 30 feet of snow, I might prefer to watch that,
|
What's the logic on us getting Arizona @ Seattle and not Detroit @ NE in the Fox contest ? I'm not necessarily complaining, I'm just curious how they arrive at some of these decisions about which game to telecast in a given metro or area ? Those are both attractive games, but the game that features the only AFC team (and very possibly the top seed in the AFC playoffs) in the two contests is not being telecast, and yet we are of course an AFC team ourselves which at this time still has some hope of making post season.
|
Houston may be an "AFC city" but Fox is the "NFC network". Usually, the network tells each affiliate what game they are getting but an affiliate will, at times, get permission to be switched to another game they perceive will draw better ratings, sometimes because of college ties or because of divisional rivalries.
I've noticed whenever Fox is sending a game to the DFW market, they will send them a game involving an NFC East team if they can't show the Cowboys. But logic doesn't always seem to win out and you have excellent points. All I can tell you is the suits at Fox thought the SB champs versus the top NFC team this year was more attractive to local viewers than the Patriots and Lions and the local Fox affiliate did nothing to protest it. |
@TexansVoice: Roof is open today!
|
May the ghost of T.J. Yates be with Mallett today. The weather forecast calls for Blue skies but the Bagels hope to counter with Green fields.
|
Big game, big game.
Foster out. I'm thinking they oughta just let him get good and healed up for the Colts game (and I hope that game means something).... |
And here we go........

That was as bad a half of football as I can remember the Texans playing. We've seen very, very questionable play calling on both sides of the ball. But we're a touchdown away from the lead. A good team would have the Texans buried by now. Fortunately the Bengals aren't very good.

Mallett's all over the place today. Not a good look.
|
Kinda makes sense in an NFL way.... Browns crush the Bengals, Texans crush the Browns, Texans getting crushed by the Bengals.... All on the road.....
|

Bernard rushes for about 9. 3rd and 1 coming up. Quick slant to Green gets 7 and the 1st down. Ball at the Bengal 48. About 9 minutes left in the 3rd qtr. Bernard gets 2. Bernard gets 1. Brings up 3rd and 7. Pick 6! Joseph! Bengals 16, Texans 10 7:19 left in the 3rd qtr. |
I can tell the immediate difference between last year and this one. Dispite the horrible play on defense and offense I kept waiting for the eventual defensive turnover. This defense has been a turnover machine.
Just hope we can generate any kind of offense. |

Mallett's pass is batted down, inc. 2nd and goal coming up. Blue for 2. Makes it 3rd and goal from the 6. Pass to AJ broken up, inc. Texans to go for the FG. Bullock's 25-yarder is good. Bengals 16, Texans 13 1:52 left in the 3rd qtr. |
Mallett is bizarrely inaccurate on short passes.
|

--------------------------------- Bernard for 4. Pass to Sanu gets 10 and the 1st down. Ball at the Bengal 30. Bernard goes left for 1. 2nd and 9 coming up. End of the 3rd qtr. |
