Official 2012 NFL Draft Round 2-3 Thread

...the search for Jacoby's replacement continues...

WMH 04-27-2012 01:03 PM

I'm seeing one of following for us in the 2nd:
Sanu - WR - Rutgers
Quick - WR - App St.
Massie - OT - Ole Piss
Adams - OT - OH St.

popanot 04-27-2012 01:04 PM

Hill has the measureables but my gut tells me Randle is going to be a better all-around WR and is a better fit for this team. I'm hoping they can somehow snag him, but they'll have to move up to get him. No way I wanted Fleener at #26, but he'd be intriguing in this offense and I might move up a few picks to get him if he starts to drop. I have a feeling he'll go to the Colts, though, since he's Luck's buddy and they have zero legit TE's on roster. If it's WR, I assume Jeffery, Sanu and Quick will all be there. Massie is intriguing. I don't think they touch Adams.

NBT 04-27-2012 01:31 PM

You could be entirely wrong about Hill. I think he will be a monster in a year or so. Randle may do well also.

Never said Hill will be a bust. I like him and he may very well have a nice career. I just think that Hill will be a straight-line speed threat, whereas, Randle will be a better all-around (blocking, slot, middle and deep) threat and fits better with what this team needs from a #2. JMHO. It's sort of the Mike Wallace vs. Antonio Brown syndrome. They're both great players, and one team might prefer Wallace's straight-line speed and another team might prefer Brown's all-around style. I think the Texans need a Brown-type WR as opposed to a Wallace-type WR (atlthough, I'll take anything to upgrade what we have now).

nunusguy 04-27-2012 04:42 PM

I'm listening to 610 AM radio right now and FWIW John McClain, a guest on the show, just said very confidantly that the Texans WOULD NOT take a WR UNTIL the 3rd round. I for one will be surprised if that scenario plays out, but we'll see?

popanot 04-27-2012 05:03 PM

I think I'd go CB or OL if Round 2 went this way:

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...nd-mock-draft/

I'd probably take Trumaine Johnson or Josh Robinson over Sanu.

Warren 04-27-2012 05:55 PM

Jeff Fisher slammed his glasses and "uttered a one-syllable expletive" when the Jags jumped up to take Blackmon in front of them, so it looks highly likely that one of those receivers comes off the board at #33.

popanot 04-27-2012 06:16 PM

Well, Quick was kind of unexpected so that drops down a couple of our guys.

popanot 04-27-2012 06:19 PM

Upshaw looks more like a 3-4 DE than a LB.

HPF Bob 04-27-2012 06:39 PM

Attn: Texans secondary. Your division now includes Justin Blackmon, Kendall Wright and Coby Fleener. Prepare accordingly.

popanot 04-27-2012 06:41 PM

@LaCanfora breaking Commish's request and tweeting upcoming pick well in advance of draft show. Bills - Cordy Glenn

popanot 04-27-2012 06:44 PM

He says Dolphins - Jonathan Martin

Hill to Jets

Warren 04-27-2012 06:45 PM

Here go the OTs.

popanot 04-27-2012 06:50 PM

Let's jump into that STL or PHI slot and take Randle.

HPF Bob 04-27-2012 06:50 PM

There went Glenn and Martin, the two I hoped would fall to us. Schwartz was already taken. Will it be Massie? Sanders? Potter?

There goes Hill to the Jets. Randle is still on the board.

popanot 04-27-2012 06:58 PM

CHI drafts Jeffery. Come on go up and get Randle!

SD is gonna grab him.......

HPF Bob 04-27-2012 07:07 PM

So, who's going to be the retired Texan when it's our turn? Domanick Davis? Aaron Glenn? Most of the guys they bring up are short so the Commish doesn't look like a dwarf.

I'm thinking Davis, or whatever he goes by now. They've all been good (or better) retired players who were drafted by the team whose pick they're announcing. For the Texans that's a very short list to choose from. Chester Pitts is still active, isn't he? I doubt they'd pick him anyway since he was very outspoken about Goodell during the lockout.

Danny Clark.......

HPF Bob 04-27-2012 07:16 PM

Billy Miller would be a cool choice. Scored the first TD in franchise history.

HPF Bob 04-27-2012 07:23 PM

There goes I.P. Freely. The Rams are building quite an arsenal.

popanot 04-27-2012 07:25 PM

If the board holds true and no one trades up, I don't see any of the teams in front of the Texans taking WR and Randle makes it to their pick.

Cincy or Denver are possibles

Arky 04-27-2012 07:30 PM

Don't want to jinx it, but I'm hoping Konz makes it to us....

Roy P 04-27-2012 07:31 PM

I think Auburn's Brandon Mosely should be the pick and then WR Nick Toon in the 3rd.

HPF Bob 04-27-2012 07:31 PM

I could see the Bagels taking Randle.

I could go with that but higher-rated OTs are still there and the only question would be whether they fit the ZBS.

If Mosely is what you want, take a WR now and take Mosely early in round three.

HPF Bob 04-27-2012 07:45 PM

There went Konz. Just two more left.

WMH 04-27-2012 07:47 PM

Pft is reporting we traded with Bucs

We got a 3rd and a 4th

popanot 04-27-2012 07:47 PM

Goodness, I'd rather just use the pick.

Arky 04-27-2012 07:50 PM

Yep, sounds like a trade.....

Our 3rd rd pick is that move-up pick with the Eagles so it'll be in the middle of the 3rd round - not towards the end...

Bucs have the 5th pick in the 3rd round.....

HPF Bob 04-27-2012 07:51 PM

Denver fans saying it's Osweiler. We're up.

Arky 04-27-2012 07:51 PM

So two 3rd's and three 4th's, now?

jcp 04-27-2012 07:52 PM

Another 4th is not bad...

2-3's
3-4's

= fresh depth

WMH 04-27-2012 07:53 PM

The #Texans traded their 2nd rounder (58) and 7th (233) to Tampa Bay for a 3rd (68) and a 4th (126). -- Houston Texans (@HoustonTexans)

HPF Bob 04-27-2012 07:55 PM

I guess the Texans weren't big Randle fans. That's twice we could have taken him.

Warren 04-27-2012 07:56 PM

We're going to dominate the first round (of Day 3).

That's actually pretty sweet. It seems like no matter where you trade down in the draft, you wind up with a fourth. :p
