Ivory gets about 2. 3rd and 7 coming up.

Hill gets about 4 or 5. Brings up 4th and 2. Hill shaken up. Ball at the Texan 14.

Actually, in Payton's first year, he cost the Saints a key game with a moronic call. The difference is that he appeared to learn his lesson. Against the Falcons, driving in the fourth quarter, and on 3rd and inches tried a crazy trick play that the Bucs totally blew up, got the ball and won.

Nconroe 08-21-2010 10:42 PM

man, NO making two 4th down runs, and now how about that, held for FG,

Arky 08-21-2010 10:44 PM

Saints get just enough for the 1st down. Ball at the Texan 11.

Ivory gets 6. 2nd and 4.

Ivory takes it to the 6-inch line. 3rd down.

Ivory for no gain.

Troy Nolan knocks the ball loose on the pass. Holding on Saints. Back 'em up to the 11.

Ivory for no gain. 3rd and goal.

Daniel sacked. 4th down. Saints to go for the FG.

FG is good.

Saints 38, Texans 20

4:03 left in the game.

Arky 08-21-2010 10:48 PM

J Johnson brings the kickoff all the way back to midfield.

I said Falcon's, but I am pretty sure it was Tampa Bay

Arky 08-21-2010 10:54 PM

DanO's pass to Graham good for 11. 1st down.

Texans run for 1.

Dump to Graham gets about 12 and the 1st down.

Dump to J Johnson puts the ball at the Saints 22. 2nd and 4 coming up.

Pass to Casey goes for the TD but they call the pick on Graham. Moves the ball back to the Saints 32.

Short gain to Casey brings up 3rd and 10.

Deep pass to JJ inc but roughing the passer on the Saints. Half the distance, 1st down at the 13.

Arky 08-21-2010 10:56 PM

DA takes the quick hitter and he and tackler both lose their helmets. 2nd and 2 coming up.

WHEN
Eugene Wilson gets hurt, I hope Troy Nolan gets to play FS.

Arky 08-21-2010 10:59 PM

2 minutes left.

J Johnson for no gain. 3rd and 2 coming up.

Pass to JJ in the endzone goes inc. 4th and 2 coming up.

Texans to go for it.

Pass goes inc. Flag on the play. Illegal offense on the Texans. Saints ball.

Arky 08-21-2010 11:02 PM

Ball at the 5.

Saints are kneeling it out.

Final Score:

Saints 38, Texans 20

Back to the drawing board...

Not a good effort but...this just in...Saints are a good team. I think they won something last year.

Arky 08-21-2010 11:27 PM

Some of the stats that stick out to me:

Time of possession: Saints 40:00, Texans 20:00

Saints rushing: 198 yards.

Saints 3rd down conversions: 8/16 (Texans just 1/8)

Saints 4th down conversions: 3/3 (Texans 0/1) (Coach Payton, did you really need those 1st downs?)

Brees was just 5/10 for 36 yards - no TD's, no INT's. Backup Chase Daniel ate us up going 15/21 for 182 yards and 3 TDs, 1 Int.

Saints looked in mid-season form, Texans looked like bumblers but it's all good - they need to find this stuff out in the pre-season and get it together. It will be interesting to see if they can rebound against Dallas. I feel bad for Holliday but they may have discovered some new return men tonight....

Yepper, and I REALLY feel for AZ this year without Warner and Boldin......OUCH.
- For you FFLer's - Buyer beware of Fitzgerald this year.

Just curious, but how did K.Jackson look?

Because the run defense sucked so bad, Brees did nto pass much and they did not throw at Jackson much. But when they did he look solid.

He also flashed on some of the run plays. Overall a solid showing from him.

As for the rest of the game, I am disgusted as heck, but again I remind myself that it is preseason and no one appeared to get hurt. I would rather have a flat game now, then during the season.

This game did not matter and some of the guy appeared to be playing not to get hurt, and we did play pretty vanilla defense.

I do think our team philosophy of small and quick was exposed tonight on both sides of the ball.

Like the rest of the defense he missed a lot of tackles. I watched the game over the internet so I'll have to wait until I can see it on the NFL Network to know for sure but it didn't seem like he had a lot of passes to defend. The Saints got it done on the ground with Brees in for the most part.

I didn't really like that either, isn't that cheating in a preseason game?

No excuses for looking that bad though, but Texans seemed to be trying to evaluate different combinations of players and plays while Saints seemed to be interested in showing they could win tonight. Looked like Saints actually game planned for a practice game. And Chase Daniels looked really good tonight.

Actually, Orlovsky looked much better tonight than previously, maybe he'll be ok as backup now.

Troy Nolan looked good again towards end of game.

You should be talking to Coach Bush rather than Coach Payton.
