Maybe. I haven't been following what picks they have left. DSwag for a #4?

Roy P 05-01-2015 10:14 PM

Saints take Grayson as the #3 QB. Thank you, Jesus! Bryce Petty is still available.

chuck 05-01-2015 10:15 PM

If anyone had Grayson as the first QB off the board you are good.

chuck 05-01-2015 10:17 PM

And by first of course I mean first other than the consensus top-two.

Maybe Trader Rick can dangle Cushing and a five gallon tub of topical steroids and get us back in this thing.

Roy P 05-01-2015 10:41 PM

#75 Chris Conley to the KC Chiefs.....well, crap. Probably as good if not better than Jaelen Strong.

Roy P 05-01-2015 10:52 PM

SF with the STEAL of the draft. Eli Harold goes #79. So sad. :(

Roy P 05-01-2015 10:54 PM

One of the better FS prospects at #80. I guess I needed some picks in this area.

Roy P 05-01-2015 11:02 PM

My favorite RB prospect David Johnson goes #86.

Late to the party, but my two cents:

McKinney: They've been looking for another ILB on the cheap since DeMeco Ryans got hurt -- Sharpton was a 4th rounder, got Dent for TJ Yates, who they were going to cut anyway. Most likely a role player at first (even if he starts, since he will probably be coming out in nickel and dime situations) and insurance for Cushing.

Strong: If they'd taken him in the 1st most wouldn't have considered it a reach, or at least not a major one. Now the biggest WR on the team.

I'm glad they got something for Posey since they seemed to have no real interest in playing him.

HPF Bob 05-02-2015 01:32 AM

We got two guys I really wanted but a little odd the way they acquired them.

If they weren't going to play Posey, then making him part of the deal to get Strong was a good ploy. I promise any doubters you will LIKE what Jaelen Strong is going to give this team. He goes up and gets the jump balls and he's got very good speed. The big issue for him is being able to get off the line in press coverage but that can be coached.

The CBS comparison was to Marques Colston of the Saints. I'd take that sort of career from him but I think he can be better. Of course, it would help if he had someone as accurate as Drew Brees in camp.

In many of my mocks, I would trade my 4th, 5th and 6th to get an extra 3rd. We somehow got rid of our 4th, 5th and 6th but just to get the guys we wanted.

If I had mocked Strong, McKinney and K. Johnson, I'd feel pretty good about it. The odd thing is it happened in reverse order but we got a better corner that way. Now we just have comp picks (one 5th, two 6ths) and a 7th unless we deal away any other players or future picks.

He always looked out of place to me, playing inside linebacker with an outside linebacker build. With 33” inch arms on a 6’4”, 246 lb. frame, he seemed more of a fit as a 3-4 OLB or even a 4-3 OLB. But, he played inside for three years because that’s what Mississippi State asked him to do. Later in his career, in pass rush situations, he did rush from the edge and that versatility opens up a number of different doors going forward if he can do that.

Imagine a guy that can be a three down inside linebacker at two, maybe even three, different spots. That’s utopian for a defensive coordinator and it’s got to be the conversation that teams are having currently. Where do we play this guy? Everywhere. But, does he have the toolbox to line up all over the defense? Some team is convincing themselves that he does, some are talking themselves out of it. Let’s take a look at the full package.
