I guess Colt McCoy is a steal for Cleveland, but who knows.

nunusguy 04-23-2010 08:38 PM

Billick asked that in a round about way.

He could be rag doll after facing the Steelers and Ravens twice a year.

HPF Bob 04-23-2010 08:48 PM

Texans in the on deck circle.

A few DB's still available to help the secondary.

Would Rolle be a fit at free safety?

Just to make a note here, this is the 3rd round and My Guy was drafted BEFORE Everson Griffen. Daniel was listed as a 4th - 6th round pick. So, just another example of how the draft gurus and internet sites just guess like the rest of us.

HPF Bob 04-23-2010 08:54 PM

Texans trade to Chiefs. We're done for tonight, folks.

Keith 04-23-2010 08:54 PM

Trade!!!

With the Chiefs...

this could be good..

Nconroe 04-23-2010 08:54 PM

we traded with chiefs. hope we got a bunch of picks this year or next perhaps.

popanot 04-23-2010 08:56 PM

Chiefs have any more pick tonight?

They have the 4th tomorrow @ start of 4th round...

HPF Bob 04-23-2010 08:59 PM

We got a 4th and a 5th. The fourth is the fourth pick tomorrow.

popanot 04-23-2010 09:00 PM

Heard the announcer in the background saying they got a 4th but couldn't hear the rest. 4th and a 5th??

Keith 04-23-2010 09:02 PM

Texans get 102 and 144 for the 93rd pick... getting a 5th rounder back after giving it up to move up to draft Ben Tate.

Not too shabby.

Roy P 04-23-2010 09:04 PM

After Trade with KC

Yeah, I'm still willing to take another DT so I'm keeping my options open. I think it is interesting that Jonathan Dwyer is still on the clock. Also Everson Griffen, Corey Wooton, Bruce Campbell, Dorin Dickerson, Ricky Sapp, Dennis Pitta, Dominique Franks (some mocks had us selecting him at 51).

1 FS/CB Brandon Ghee
2 DT Geno Atkins
3 CB Akwasi Owusu-Ansah
4 S Darrell Stuckey
5 DT Cam Thomas
6 CB Kevin Thomas
7 CB Alterraun Verner
8 LB Dekoda Watson
9 LB Jamar Chaney
10 LB Rennie Curran
11 OG Marshall Newhouse
12 CB Walter McFadden
13 LB AJ Edds
14 FS Robert Johnson

kRocket 04-23-2010 09:06 PM

I wished they hadn't waited so long to learn how to trade down. If they had done this in the 1st round we probably could have had K.Jackson and another 2nd or 3rd. Or maybe they knew something I didn't know, nah that couldn't have been it.

Blitzwood 04-23-2010 09:07 PM

So what is the draft pick count?

2-4th rounders,2- 5th rounders,and 2-6th rounders??

HPF Bob 04-23-2010 09:07 PM

There went Ghee to the Bengals.

nunusguy 04-23-2010 09:09 PM

Yea, we ended up with the 4th in the 4th round and the 13th in the 5th round for tomorrow. 2 4th round picks tomorrow - hey that's worth showing on Saturday for, I like it.

That's a good value pick. Ghee to go with Leon Hall and Joseph. That Secondary just got better.

painekiller 04-23-2010 09:17 PM

I have to hand it to Rick Smith he has done a wonderful job today moving around the board.

I retrack my statement from last night. Eric Winston's mock had the Packers taking Jackson at 23, and he said their was a lot of buzz about that pick. So that means their is no way they could trade out of #20 and still get the guy that is ready to play in the NFL today.

Then Rick goes out in the 2nd and trades down and get the RB this team needs. He was not my top choice in the 2nd, but he was a perfect fit for us. Good size and speed combo, and he has a tough guy style. The OL will like this kid.

Mitchell was not on my list due to size, but he is a lower pick from the same mold that Houston is from. High motor 3 technique that gets in the back field. Nice pick and he is from here.

So far a very nice draft.

HPF Bob 04-23-2010 09:17 PM

Don't forget the 4th is historically our magic round.

Domanick Davis
Owen Daniels
Jacoby Jones
Fred Bennett

We find some players in that round so having two picks means we have two chances to find a stud.

Sounds like this starts at 9 a.m. tomorrow.

Nconroe 04-23-2010 09:17 PM

at this time looks like remaining picks are
4th rnd
pick 4 or 102 overall
pick 20 or 118 overall

5th round
pick 13 or 144 overall

6th round
pick 18 or 187 overall
pick 28 or 197 overall

7th round
20th pick or 227 overall

so, six more picks to speculate what we will do with. doing very good so far.

Every pick has been one of "My Guys" so I'm thrilled. Mitchell was a guy I saw as a late round steal that other sites had undervalued. The same goes for Corey Peters. I would have preferred Geno Atkins, but at least we are addressing a pass-rushing 3-Tech that may push Okoye. While I had Spiller, Best, and Gerhart rated higher on my Draft Board, Ben Tate was my FAVORITE RB choice so, I'm thrilled about that choice. Glad we have been able to make some deals to get some extra picks.

Tomorrow, I'm expecting to be able to get some DBs to augment the Secondary (AOA, Stuckey, Verner, Johnson). Perhaps a LB to push Diles at the WILL. Lauvao went earlier than I expected, so if we get OL help I'd start with Marshall Newhouse. I'm not sure if we get another DL but I'd be accepting of Geno or Cam Thomas. Will we get another RB to complement Tate? Dwyer, Dixon, Starks, Miller, Bell, Karim.

kRocket 04-23-2010 09:48 PM

Roy, I expect you to have a brand new 'my guys' by tomorrow. ;)

Arky 04-24-2010 01:32 AM

If they use all their remaining picks, training camp is just going to be a mass of talent this year - 9 from the draft.... The training camp fodder seems to get less and less each year..... Probably a lot of tough cuts on the horizon...

Or they could still trade back up with some of the picks.
