#81 CB Amari Spievey
#118 CB/FS Akwasi Owusu-Ansah
#150 OG Marshall Newhouse
#187 FB/WR Jameson Konz Kent State 6-4 234 7 4.43
#197 RB Deji Karim Southern Illinois 5-09 209 7 4.40
#227 OC/OG Jeff Byers C Southern California 6-4 301

Weatherspoon is BPA. He gives an upgrade at WILL or he can become your Mike if needed. Diles can back up all three guys.
Houston give you a high motor guy, who can get to the QB and collapse the pocket from the middle.
Spievey and Ansah are both ST standouts who can develop. Ansah might be a candidate for the FS spot.
Konz is on McClain sleeper list, which is why this does not happen, same for Karim.
Byers can play all three interior line positions, goodbye Studdard.

36. Devin McCourty, CB, Rutgers
51. Jamar Chaney, OLB, Mississippi State
69. Lamar Houston, DT, Texas
82. Ben Tate, RB, Auburn
103. Myron Lewis, CB/FS, Vanderbilt
119. Torrell Troup, DT, UCF
151. Chris Scott, OT, Tennessee
187. Nate Byham, TE, Pitt
197. Trindon Holliday, RS/RB, LSU
227. Antonio Coleman, DE, Auburn

Texans select Demaryius Thomas at 20 for the the Chiefs in exchange for 36, 69, and 103.

Witherspoon is a nice player and all, but I find it hard to believe the Texans are going to take a LB with that first pick. Witherspoon would have to be the clear BPA with no CB, S, RB, OL, DL close to or of equal value being on their board. Not that I think it will happen, but I could even see them going WR before LB, if say, one of the 2 best WRs drop. IMO, it's going to be one of the following (in no particular order); Earl Thomas, Kyle Wilson, Devin McCourty, Ryan Mathews, or BPA OL or DL. One of those players will be there @ 20. My guess is they'll go DB since losing DRob and it will be between Thomas/Wilson/McCourty. I don't think Thomas will be there so I'll take Wilson.

I would add Iupati, Dan Williams (doubtful), Spiller (doubtful), Cody(very doubtful).

I would say they are not taking a OT in the 1st, and I would say they are not taking a DE in the 1st.

Meant "Weatherspoon"... Although, I'm sure there's a Witherspoon out there that's a fine player, too. :p

THR has a 6 round computer Mock....this is who I chose:

#20 LB Sean Weatherspoon 6'1" 245 4.68 Missouri
#51 CB Brandon Ghee 6'0" 191 4.45 Wake Forest
#81 DT Geno Atkins 6'2" 293 4.86 Georgia
#118 FS Akwasi Owusu-Ansah 6'0" 207 4.47 Indiana (Pa)
#150 RB Lonyae Miller 5'11" 220 4.52 Fresno St.
#187 CB AJ Jefferson 6'0" 193 4.49 Fresno St.
#197 DT Jay Ross 6'3" 317 5.15 East Carolina

We may want to seriously start looking to trade up to #75 to draft a RB, because I'm not sure if a "good" one will be available when we pick at #81.

I like the Huddles mock, except for all of that folishness with the guy from Jasper - what, we gonna use our first-round pick as a bench-warmer in nickel situations ? I don't think so. And what a steal to get P. Robinson at 51 overall, who some have as the #2 corner after Haden.
Dixon would be great, him or Gerhardt is the kind of big thumper we need to add to our corps of backs and with a third-round pick.
Here's a question - I was watching the NFLNetwork this week and they were interviewing L.Houston and he was talking about the nose tackle positoon ?
Anybody know what's that's about 'cause I thought he was a 3-tech guy only ?
And another question - which back or backs, if any, in this years Draft reminds you of Shonn Greene, the back the Jets got last year at the begging of the third
round ?

I will say that this particular site has players all over the place. Either I'm really overrating some guys, or they are waaay off the mark. The question comes into play about the CB position that has been believed to be the BIG need. At 20 Kyle Wilson, Devin McCourty, & Patrick Robinson may be worthwhile, but Alterraun Verner, Aj Jefferson, Kevin Thomas, Trevard Lindley, and Crezdon Butler would be servicable in pass defense much later in the draft.

Perhaps I can draft the BPA in the first, take the best RB in the 2nd, the best OL/DL in the 3rd and 4th, and then grab DB's that fit our system best. Just a thought.

OK I will try this:

1 Mike Iupati OG Idaho
2 Montario Hardesty RB Tennessee
3 Lamarr Houston DT Texas
4 Linval Joseph* DT East Carolina
5 Donovan Warren* CB Michigan
6 Deji Karim RB Southern Illinois
6 Jamar Wall CB Texas Tech
7 Zane Beadles OG Utah

Sorry I had to grab a RB in the 6th because McNair said we are taking two of them.

I thought about pulling a Duane Brown and reaching for a need in the first round...

1. Jon Asamoah OG Illinois
2. Ben Tate RB Auburn
3. Geno Atkins DT Georgia
4. Linval Joseph DT ECU
5. James Starks RB Buffalo (my 2nd RB)
6. Brian Jackson FS Oklahoma
6. Alterraun Verner CB UCLA
7. Daniel Te'o-Nesheim DE Washington (There's NO way he's a 7th round pick)
FA. Crezdon Butler CB Clemson (Did I mention Calvin Johnson was held to 0 catches when he played Clemson?)

I think this organization has shown that it can put together some quality drafts.... This doesn't match that in my opinion.

Amazing how many players from those three drafts are still on the team. The shows what crap Kubiak inherited.

Man, it sure would be nice to get an unexpected, but much needed rebound in production from Fred Bennet. I've pretty much written off Molden as waisted pick and will be surprised if he makes it out of (or even to) camp this year.

Yep. I think this team is in need of 2-3 immediate impact players still and I don't feel as if that draft you put out there has a single player that could come in and make a significant immediate impact on this team. Aside from what I would consider major reaches with the first two picks you don't address a primary need (the secondary) until the 6th round. To me... that's just not getting the job done.

Ok, I just did a mock and drafted 2 RBs.

1. S Earl Thomas
2. OG Jon Asamoah
3. RB Ben Tate
4. RB Jonathan Dwyer
5. DE Daniel Te'o-Nesheim
6. CB Kevin Thomas
6. LB Simoni Lawrence
7. CB Crezdon Butler

I think Dwyer may just be that short yardage back that had a slow 40 and has enough ???? to drop in the draft. Playing in the Option at Ga. Tech and being the FB, may perhaps make him a bargain. So much so, that I've put him back on my draftboard.
