At least you added some interest to this week. If all four of you had chosen Pittsburgh (and frankly so would I), then there could be no change this week. All four would have survived since we can't have all four eliminated and no champion. Thanks, Chuck.

Just doing my part. Yeah, having all four of us yahoos pick the same team is boring as hell, and we could continue to do so for a good stretch.

HPF Bob 10-18-2010 12:20 PM

Well, Chuck, if we didn't have rules, I'd give you a mulligan on this one. Your heart was in the right place even if Chicago's o-line wasn't.

So now it is down to three:

Foo'ball Fool: NYG, GB, NE, NO, BAL, PIT
Keith: TEN, ATL, NE, NO, IND, PIT
Warren: NYG, GB, NE, NO, IND, PIT

Out of play: New England, New Orleans and Pittsburgh.

Young Colt didn't look half bad considering the crappy teammates he has around him. On the rare occasions he had time to throw, he looked very capable. Both INTs were on tipped balls. He's certainly no Schaub but, for his first NFL start and against the dirtiest team in the league, he looked better than I feared he would.

Could the refs have looked any more gay with their pink whistles?

HPF Bob 10-18-2010 12:31 PM

Nconroe 10-25-2010 01:41 PM

Hey, Ravens almost lost to Buffalo. You Buffalo guys better be careful

HPF Bob 10-25-2010 03:19 PM

There have been several contestants this year done in by the Raiders.

And then there were two - the former HPF contributors, Keith and Warren - mano a mano.

Keith: TEN, ATL, NE, NO, IND, PIT, BAL
Warren: NYG, GB, NE, NO, IND, PIT, BAL

Obviously, they've been singing from the same hymnal now for over a month so we'll need to see some creativity now in order to make this exciting.

Week 10: TB

Eh. Sorry for the push, especially since I had the Giants to burn this week.

HPF Bob 11-11-2010 02:16 PM

Yeah, I'm shocked you didn't take the Giants. Scared of what mighty Kitna will do to the Jints?

HPF Bob 11-15-2010 10:54 AM

That explains why I'm almost always eliminated in the first week. I suggest the Giants and - BOOM - they lose to the hapless Cowboys.

The Bucs won, however, so the game marches on:

Keith: TEN, ATL, NE, NO, IND, PIT, BAL, KC, GB, TAM
Warren: NYG, GB, NE, NO, IND, PIT, BAL, KC, ATL , TAM

It's interesting to me that neither guys has picked the Texans.

And also when both of you go with the same team, it defeats the purpose, at some point one of you has to win this thing, so stop picking the same teams. I get that it is cool to be this deep into the season, but now it's time to get a winner and having mirror picks will not accomplish that.

Congratulations to both of you for getting this far.

Warren 11-15-2010 12:46 PM

1. New York Giants
2. Green Bay Packers
3. New England Patriots
4. New Orleans Saints
5. Indianapolis Colts
6. Pittsburgh Steelers
7. Baltimore Ravens
8. Kansas City Chiefs
9. Atlanta Falcons
10. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

11. San Diego Chargers

I think the fact that neither of us has picked the Texans has a direct correlation to the fact that we're both still alive. And I'm not yet ready to pass on what I think is the most likely winner left on my board because Keith picks it. We're just past the midway point; I willing to stay boring for a little while longer.

I can respect both of those points.

HPF Bob 11-15-2010 04:14 PM

It's wide open for Keith to take the Jets or the Cowboys (hint, hint).

Keith 11-15-2010 09:28 PM

1. Avoid making a pick on your home team. You can be too close to the situation to make a rational opinion.

2. I'm here to win, not entertain. I finished 2nd in this last year after like 13 weeks, so I gotta be me. :p

Keith: TEN, ATL, NE, NO, IND, PIT, BAL, KC, GB, TAM

Week 11: SDC

Sorry! I'm not picking against (or for) the Texans, and I'mnot ballsy enough to take the Niners, Bengals, Cowboys, or Eagles this week... though I gave each some thought. One more week of boredom.

chuck 11-15-2010 10:55 PM

BOR-ING!

If Bob weren't so emasculated he would disqualify the both of you pansies and just fold up the tent on principle.

HPF Bob 11-16-2010 01:52 PM

We can pass a rule for next year that when the field is reduced to the last four, the remaining players cannot choose the same team that week as another player, making it first-come-first-served each week. It wouldn't apply to earlier rounds and would certainly make the endgame quicker.

I like it the way it is, actually. I just like to make fun of these two grandmas.

Thanks for managing the game year after year, by the way.

Arky 11-22-2010 02:07 PM

I dunno, there was that one year (2008?) where there were so many knocked out there was time to run a 2nd pool... I know cause I won the 2nd contest. So, that might be something to consider in regards to instituting a picking-the-same rule...

HPF Bob 11-23-2010 10:27 AM

The Chargers won handily. So we move onto turkey week. Remember that if you choose a Thursday game, you have to get your pick in before game time.

Keith: TEN, ATL, NE, NO, IND, PIT, BAL, KC, GB, TAM, SD
Warren: NYG, GB, NE, NO, IND, PIT, BAL, KC, ATL, TAM, SD

Have at it, and have a Happy Thanksgiving.

HPF Bob 11-23-2010 10:43 AM

Week 12 Schedule:

Thurs, Nov. 25, 2010

New England at Detroit - 11:30 a.m. - CBS
New Orleans at Dallas - 3:15 p.m. - Fox
Cincinnati at NY Jets - 7:20 p.m. - NFLN

Sun., Nov. 28, 2010

Carolina at Cleveland - 12:00 - Fox
Green Bay at Atlanta - 12:00 - Fox
Jacksonville at NY Giants - 12:00 - CBS
Minnesota at Washington - 12:00 - Fox
Philadelphia at Chicago - 12:00 - Fox
Pittsburgh at Buffalo - 12:00 - CBS
Tampa Bay at Baltimore - 12:00 - Fox
Tennessee at Houston - 12:00 - CBS
Kansas City at Seattle - 3:05 - CBS
Miami at Oakland - 3:05 - CBS
St. Louis at Denver - 3:15 - Fox
San Diego at Indianapolis - 7:20 - NBC

Mon., Nov. 29, 2010

San Francisco at Arizona - 7:30 - ESPN

FWIW, I can't believe Fox is going to send the whole country the Rams and Broncos for the DH game so look for them to move another game into the 3:15 slot like PHI-CHI, GB-ATL or TAM-BAL.

UPDATE: Fox has moved both the PHI-CHI and TAM-BAL games to 3:15 starts. Check your listings.

Warren 11-23-2010 12:09 PM

1. New York Giants
2. Green Bay Packers
3. New England Patriots
4. New Orleans Saints
5. Indianapolis Colts
6. Pittsburgh Steelers
7. Baltimore Ravens
8. Kansas City Chiefs
9. Atlanta Falcons
10. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
11. San Diego Chargers

12. New Yorks Jets

FWIW, if I survive this week there will be three teams that currently have winning records (and one of those is the Jags, so they shouldn't count) left on my board. The picks should be getting increasingly dicey with each week.

painekiller 11-23-2010 12:53 PM

Getting close to a time that the Texans v Titans is a play with the Texans being the pick....:D

Keith 11-23-2010 08:52 PM

Keith: TEN, ATL, NE, NO, IND, PIT, BAL, KC, GB, TAM, SD

Week 12: NYJ
