Texans offense just imposed its will on that 94-yard drive. Brown had four straight carries for 23 yards into the endzone after his fumble on the screen pass.
|
On another board, they were talking about a new rule for this year:
The "wedge" on kick returns is now outlawed. You can't have more than two blockers next to each other on kick returns. The next guy has to be several feet away. I think the net result will be far fewer long kickoff returns. |
Texans kickoff. KC sets up shop about the 30.
Battle for two runs - one nice gain, the other stuffed. DelJuan hurt on the second but up and around.... 3rd and 11. Screen not much. KC to punt. Short punt give the Texans the ball at their own 43. |
Chris Brown could always run the ball. That wasn't in question. It is just that he can't stay healthy for a whole season. He would always give Tennesee like 3-4 huge games each year and be inactive for 5-8.
I almost regret seeing him out there playing well tonight because it is likely one fewer we get from him that counts. |
lookin good so far
|
Shaub looks great. Now lets see what Orlavsky can do
|
Texans don't get much - 4th and 2, have to punt.
Punt goes out of bounds at the 15. KC's ball. |
KC doesn't do a whole lot... KC to punt...
JJ has a short return to the Texan 27... 1st down to AD on a quick hitter.... rain has let up.. On 3rd and 10, pass to AD is just short of the 1st down.... Texans to punt.. KC fields the ball at about the 14... |
Jacoby looked a lot more comfortable on kick return than he did last year.
|
AJ Davis a little early on the hit gives KC a 1st down.
On a run, KC coughs up the ball! Bentley recovers. Texans ball at the KC 24. 1st play, O is sacked. Dreesen on a big gainer to about the 11... Moats for 3. Moats for 3 more. 3rd down pass defended well. Texans to go for the FG. FG is good. Texans 10, Chiefs 0 |
Nice first-down throw to Dreesen after the sack. If KC is going to blitz, you might as well burn them.
Two runs by Moats takes it to the five. Third down. |
Kris Brown a short FG
It's Texans 10, Chefs 0, coming up on halftime. Must suck to be a Chefs fan...watching your team get shut out while you sit in the rain. I feel like getting a cold just watching this. |
Texans kickoff. Chiefs bring it out to 23.
Barwin with a sack! KC to punt. AD not much on the return. Texans ball at the 35. |
Barwin! Nice! Welcome to the NFL...
|
barwin gets the sack. Great move
|
Wow. Moats made that cut just like his wife got through the Dallas Police! :D

Texans ball at the 30. Casey nice catch for 5. 4th and 5, Texans to go for the FG. FG is good. Texans 13, Chiefs 0 |
Brown from 42....good again!
Texans 13, Chefs 0. Now enjoy your halftime soaking. |
Ok, now. Lets not get content kicking field goals. I may be reaching a little. But Orlavsky looks like his passes are floating a little bit.
|
Texans kick off. KC brings it out to the 27.
|
Orlovsky seems like he has the arm, but he doesn't throw a very nice ball. Everything he throws wobbles. I'm not very impressed.
|
KC moves the ball into FG range.
FG is good as time expires in the half. Texans 13, Chiefs 3 Not too bad a showing by these Texans... |
I would have preferred a shutout for the half. But our db's got exposed in the last minute.
|
Well, I'll be...
Succup (pron: SUCK up) kicks a 48-yd FG at the gun. At Halftime: Texans 13, Chefs 3. NOW, you can enjoy your sopping wet popcorn, Chef fans... |

However he has been looking decent. I am curious to see Grossman now. |
I don't doubt that he can look better mentally and performance wise, I just don't think he throws a good ball. But Philip Rivers can't throw a spiral and he is effective. So hopefully Orlovsky can be effective.
|
Halftime stats:
Passing: Shaub 7/7 - 70 yds., Orlovsky 6/11 - 71 yds. Rushing: Brown 6/25, Moats 4/22, Slaton 4/7 Receiving: Davis 3/40, Dreesen 2/27, C Brown, 2/22, Walter 2/16, Johnson 1/15... Tackles: GQ 4, Bennett, Del. Robinson, Adibi and Barwin (w/sack) 2 . Time of possession: Texans 18:43, Chiefs 11:17. |
Texans kickoff. KC's ball at their own 12. Rain really coming down...
On 4th and 2, PI on Parson (?) - 1st down KC KC moving the ball.... |
I thought they could defend the receivere for 5 yards, pretty ticky-tack call on Parsons. Chiefs did a sneak on 4th to keep it going.
|
Chiefs now near midfield...
Pass complete to the Texan 31 On 4th and 2, Pass is blocked. Texans takeover at about the Chief 24. |
Frank Okam snuffs out the fourth-down play. Texans give ground but the Chefs do not score.
|
Okam knocked down pass on 4th down, he's had some other good pressures, so maybe he's coming around. Texans get it on their own 25 on downs.
|
On 3rd and 3, pass from O is deflected.
Texans to punt. Chiefs bring it out to their own 25. |

God, I always forget how sloppy pre-season football is. |
Chiefs moving the ball. Now at the Texan 48.
Fumble? Officials give possession to the Texans.... Booth review and the Texans takeover at their own 37. |
We really shouldn't have anybody important left in this game with the way the footing is. Just third string and less...
|
Texans moving the ball...
Nice run by Moats for about 12 yards. Ball currently at the Chiefs 12 yard line... Texans to go for the FG. FG is good. Texans 16, Chiefs 3 |
Kris Brown chip shot from 30.
It's Texans 16, Chefs 3 as the third quarter approaches its end. |
