That was so bad it almost made me think AJ Bouye got a hold of the playbook and sold us out...
|
Jez that was ugly.
As low as my expectations were for our offensive line they still fell miles & miles below those ecpectations. Speaking of Olines, who knew that the Jags Oline was that good because we have a pretty solid front 7 and the Jag offensive line handled them. We do have a good front 7, right ? |
Not a lot of positives in that one. Worse, seemed like the team had a lot of quit in them today, too. Players gotta make plays, but that game is the kind of exhibit of what gets head coaches fired.
O'Brien spent the entire camp with Savage entrenched as the starter only to bench him by halftime of game 1. If you believe in the guy throughout camp, you shouldn't bench him after 30 minutes. If you didn't believe in him, then why not do more in July and August to prepare Watson? Had this been the first time O'Brien looked lost picking a QB by halftime of Week 1... but it isn't the first time. Aside from bad head coaching, the Texans are in trouble this week for tight ends. Short week and the availability of C.J. and Griffin doesn't look good. And of course the OL (albeit missing LT Duane Brown) was even worse than expected... and no one expected much. Ellington went down and yet neither QB looked Braxton Miller's direction in spite of being open often. Kevin Johnson looked like he hadn't played in 11 months. Jags OL seemed to punch the DL in the gut all game long. ILBs overmatched. Not good. |
Quote:
You may get some short term gain by playing Watson now but I fear that the minuses will outweigh the positives. Anyway, Rick Smith has completely fked up the roster. Duane Brown or no Duane Brown beginning the season with this OL is a criminal offense. All three of their TEs are in the concussion protocol, by the way, so good luck getting a full team together by Thursday. Silver lining - we can all breathe a sigh of relief that they finally got Jay Prosch extended. |

But we won our broke division a few times so people are convinced Smith is a good GM. |
No second round pick, you best corner plays for the team that just kicked your ass, I mean, what are they doing?
They have three street free agent tackles. Or non drafted guys, or a seventh round guy. I mean, come on. The one guy they went out and spent a low pick on is probably their worst player. Foreman gets ONE carry. This year will be bad, next year will be bad because they have no picks. Maybe they'll sign someone, I don't know. The only good news is that the Colts are terrible. And the only reason that's good news is that the Texans don't have any picks so it doesn't really matter where they end up. |
What happened to the Texans bringing a W to a city that needs some uplifting? Doesn't look like this will be a repeat of the Saints/Katrina season.....
What happened to the Jags being distracted by the hurricane that is hitting their state? The Jags look razor-focused while the Texans were the ones that looked distracted..... OK, so it's a bad start. The total discombobulation was staggering... Teams have had slow starts before and gotten better as the season goes on. However, this looks a lot like a team that's going into a season-long nose dive..... Hoping for the former, praying that it doesn't turn into the latter..... I believe Strong can play in Thursday's game, that will help some... OB should go ahead and make the switch to Watson if he wants to save his job. Watson's athleticism is needed over Savage's virtues..... They both made about the same mistakes but Watson looked like an athlete screwing up, Savage looked like a branch manager screwing up.... |
