I said that a few weeks ago. Molden also needs to be more of a football player and less of a "track guy" in pads.

I can understand why Carl Nicks is sliding (character), but for the life of me, I can't figure out why Cliff Avril is still on the board.

Or WR Andre Caldwell and DT Dre Moore, for that matter.

Steve Slaton

Here we go...

Steve Slaton! Fogrgot about him... I'm starting to like this draft!

Steve Slaton, RB, ...fast but fragile. This is the guy we got for the trade down.

I think this is a good third-down back. I wouldn't make him a franchise back.:)

I would have preferred any of the RBs that went ahead of Slayton, but the guy is probably an upgrade over Walker and has the potential to turn into a homerun hitter.

I was thinking we could wait on Tashard Choice or even later to get Thomas Brown or Jalen Parmele. Slaton is a 3rd down - change of pace back.

Beat me to it, but he IS a homerun threat. Not saying our line blew gaping holes last year, but "Ronnie" had some 15-25 yard runs where he was caught from behind or somone had an angle on him that someone with wheels would have taken it to the house.

I think that's the key here. Slaton has the home run capability that most of the other backs don't and this is something our present roster collectively lacks. You can run a guy like Walker or Brown on the first two downs and turn to a guy like Slaton in the 3rd & 4-6 and see if he can bust a run or take a swing pass and get in space.

Remember all the fantasizing around here two years ago about Reggie Bush? Slaton does the same thing for a third-round price - maybe not as spectacularly as Bush but I think it's pretty obvious that Bush is a third-round talent with first-round hype.

If Slaton stays within himself, I think he'll be a great pick. If the Texans try to turn him into an everyday back, I think he'll be a disapppointment.

We'll see if Slaton runs as effectively inside as Brian Westbrook, a RB of comparable size, which would allow him to be more than a 3rd down/change-of-pace guy.

Slaton reminds me of a player like Clinton Portis when he was coming out of Miami.

Well, the team gets the LT they wanted, a CB with excellent measurables and then Steve Slaton for free. Throw in a starting QB with the second round pick and this is looking like a pretty good draft from the outset.

Maybe Marcus Howard from Georgia here at #118 for the Texans.
